Forsee Power battery system powers new electric fire pump

News |

By Glaucileine Vieira

Forsee Power is moving beyond traditional vehicle applications with the delivery of its GO 1.6 battery system to Tohatsu. The batteries will be used in a new electric portable fire pump, marking another step in the electrification of industrial equipment.

For eeNews Europe readers, this highlights how battery technology is expanding into niche but critical use cases. It also shows how compact energy systems are enabling electrification in environments where reliability and ease of use are essential.

Battery systems move into industrial equipment

The GO 1.6 battery system will power Tohatsu’s VM130A electric portable fire pump, which has already been certified in Japan and is expected to launch later this year. The application is notable because fire-fighting equipment demands high reliability and robustness, often under extreme conditions.

This shift toward electrification in professional tools reflects a broader trend. Equipment that traditionally relied on combustion engines is now being redesigned around battery systems, bringing benefits such as lower emissions, reduced noise and easier operation.

Forsee Power designed the GO 1.6 as a compact and modular lithium ion battery system. It offers high energy density, integrated safety features and straightforward integration. While originally intended for light electric vehicles, the architecture also fits well with industrial and utility applications such as pumps.

Compact design supports demanding use cases

The VM130A pump is built for portability and ease of deployment, which makes the battery choice critical. Thanks to its lightweight and compact design, the system can be used not only by professional fire departments but also by volunteer responders and local communities.

“This first delivery to Tohatsu reflects the growing relevance of compact, industrial-grade battery systems in applications beyond on-road mobility,” said Kenjiro Azuma, Director of Business Development at Forsee Power in Asia-Pacific. “We are proud to support Tohatsu in its electrification journey by providing a reliable and proven battery solution adapted to professional use cases.”

The collaboration shows how battery suppliers are targeting new segments where performance and durability matter just as much as cost. In these environments, systems must operate reliably while remaining simple to deploy in urgent situations.

Electrification reaches new sectors

Forsee Power’s move into equipment like fire pumps underlines how electrification is spreading across industries. Beyond transport, sectors such as emergency response and utilities are beginning to adopt battery powered solutions.

For manufacturers, this opens new opportunities to reuse existing battery platforms in different applications. For users, it brings quieter operation, reduced maintenance and the potential for zero emission performance.

With production capabilities across Europe, Asia Pacific and North America, Forsee Power is positioning itself to support this shift globally as demand for flexible and robust battery systems continues to grow.
