Infosys has announced that the Board of Directors has approved the appointment of Nitin Paranjpe as non-executive Vice Chairman of the Board with immediate effect, as per the company’s regulatory filing.

The appointment recognises Nitin’s contribution to the Board. He brings extensive experience, including as non-executive Chairman of Hindustan Unilever Ltd and non-executive Vice Chairman of Heineken NV. Previously, he held the positions of Chief People & Transformation Officer and Chief Operating Officer at Unilever as well. As Vice Chairman, he will support the Chairman in guiding the Board and strategic agenda.

“We are delighted to have Nitin in this position,” said Nandan Nilekani, Chairman of the Board, Infosys. “His expertise has already made a significant impact on the Board, and we look forward to his continued leadership in this expanded role. I will continue as the Chairman of the Board as long as necessary, and there is no plan for a chairman transition.”

In a separate development, the filing stated that the Board has approved a request by Shreyas Shibulal—son of former Infosys co-founder S. D. Shibulal—and his partner, Bhairavi Madhusudhan Shibulal, to reclassify from the “Promoter and Promoter Group” category to the “Public” category.

Infosys’ shares closed at ₹1,181.50 today, up 1.20 per cent.
