The cyber security firm has joined two of the world’s leading identity organisations as it seeks to accelerate industry adoption of continuous, risk-based identity security.
CrowdStrike announced overnight that it has joined both the OpenID Foundation as a sustaining corporate member and IDPro, as the cyber security firm looks to drive broader adoption of continuous, risk-aware identity protection across the industry.
CrowdStrike argues that legacy identity frameworks, built around one-time authentication and static access policies, are becoming inadequate against modern threats, particularly as attackers increasingly target identities rather than endpoints as their primary entry point into enterprise environments.

“Identity is the front line of modern attacks, and static identity frameworks can’t stop AI-driven threats,” Elia Zaitsev, CrowdStrike’s chief technology officer, said in a statement.
“No other platform has the real-time telemetry and adversary intelligence that Falcon does; the signals that continuous, risk-aware identity security runs on. CrowdStrike is making those signals the foundation for Next-Gen Identity Security across the industry.”
The company said its Falcon platform, combined with runtime access enforcement technology acquired through its purchase of SGNL, enables organisations to dynamically grant, deny, or revoke access as risk conditions change across human users, machine identities, and AI agents.
Through its participation in the OpenID Foundation, CrowdStrike will contribute to initiatives including the Shared Signals Framework and Continuous Access Evaluation Profile, which aim to enable security and identity platforms to share real-time risk signals across cloud environments, SaaS applications and identity providers.
According to CrowdStrike, these standards will become increasingly important as organisations seek to implement adaptive security models capable of responding to AI-driven attacks in real time.
Gail Hodges, executive director of the OpenID Foundation, said CrowdStrike’s participation would strengthen efforts to modernise identity security standards.
“CrowdStrike’s leadership in identity security and commitment to strengthening open identity standards make them an invaluable addition to the OpenID Foundation’s working groups and board,” Hodges said.
“Their participation sends a powerful message across cyber security: in the age of AI-accelerated attacks, open identity standards are not optional but a foundational requirement for effective, real-time defence.”
Joni Brennan, board chair of IDPro, said CrowdStrike’s involvement highlighted the growing strategic importance of identity security.
“CrowdStrike is an important and highly respected leader in cyber security. At IDPro, we are delighted that they recognise the critical role that identity plays in underpinning the security posture of any institution,” Brennan said.
