Red Mass

Sweet Blasphemy
Kizmiaz Records
2023
Released June 13, 2023. Red Mass are from Montréal, Québec. "The story of Red Mass begins and ends with Roy 'Choyce' Vucino, with about a hundred other people in between. From a distance it may seem like total chaos, but when you look closer it reveals itself to be a well-organized plan, or at the very least organized chaos, from the mind of a truly visionary artist. This was also no accident either, the philosophy that Vucino used in creating Red Mass was as much a protection against what had happened too often in his past as it was a creative outlet for moving forward. By the time Red Mass was conceived in 2008, Vucino was a veteran of the Montreal garage/punk scene of late '90s/early '00s, founding some of the most significant bands to come out of the city at that time, with Les Sexareenos and CPC Gangbangs being the most significant of his seemingly endless list of bands. While all these bands were important and released some fine albums—The Daylight Lovers, The Del-Gators, and The Milky Ways to name just a few more—it was the experiences with CPC Gangbangs that left Vucino searching for another way to fulfill his musical vision. .................. "Roy is one of the godfathers of the garage rock Montreal scene." David Kunstatter ....................... After five years of building a reputation as one of the best live rock and roll bands on the planet, CPC Gangbangs would release their debut full length album, Mutilation Nation, on Swami Records and seemed poised to break through to the next level. Already legends in the garage-punk underground scene from Montreal to Los Angeles for their live shows, which were known to include pyrotechnics (of the most rudimentary kind) and unparalleled mayhem, it seemed only a matter of time before the rest of the music world would wake up to what they had to offer. They were what rock and roll should be: wild, free, and dangerous. Yet as he had seen so many times before, eventually the band would come to a natural end. Not that all the hard work or the time spent forging CPC Gangbangs was for nothing, but Vucino still found himself back at square one, having to start all over again. It was the decision to never find himself in this position again that lead to the philosophy that would ultimately be the foundation on which Red Mass was built. If you had no set line-up then the band could never break up, and he would be able to set his sights on the long term and not worry about other people's plans or trends of the day. Red Mass would set him free to do whatever he wanted and take his audience anywhere they were willing to follow. As the only constant member since its inception, Vucino has allowed Red Mass to go where ever it needed to go, giving a horde of collaborators creative license to put their stamp on it as much as he would." https://kizmiazrecords.bandcamp.com/album/kz054-sweet-blasphemy

Jack Ruby
Hit & Run
Punk 45: Sick On You! One Way Spit! After The Love & Before The Revolution - Proto-Punk 1970-77 Vol. 3
Soul Jazz Records
1974 / 2014
"Formed in Albany, New York, during the summer of 1973 by vocalist Robin "Roddy" Hall, guitarist Chris Gray, multi-instrumentalist Randy Cohen, classically-trained viola player Boris (aka Boris Policeband); later joined by bassist George Scott and new vocalist Stephen Barth. Jack Ruby made only five studio recordings and played an equal number of gigs between 1973 and 1977. Their music was never released until years later, their signature tune "Hit and Run."" ...................... Of the more recent 2xCD comp. of their work: "The collected recordings of legendary lost 1970s New York City band, Jack Ruby. Seen and heard by just a precious few, Jack Ruby made only five studio recordings and played an equal number of gigs between 1973 and 1977. None of their music was ever released and, until now, they have existed solely as a word-of-mouth legend among peers. Yet their legacy and influence can clearly be heard in bands that followed in their wake like Sonic Youth and Teenage Jesus And The Jerks. They have been variously described as "The Velvet Underground in a car crash" and the "art-punk Steely Dan." Formed in 1973 by vocalist Robin Hall, guitarist Chris Gray, multi-instrumentalist Randy Cohen, classically-trained viola player Boris (also known as Boris Policeband), and later joined by bassist George Scott (James Chance And The Contortions/8-Eyed Spy/John Cale) and new vocalist Stephen Barth, the first incarnation of Jack Ruby demoed two tracks in a Times Square recording studio in 1974; their signature tune, the nihilistic proto-punk "Hit and Run" -- sounding like some unholy blend of Raw Power-era Stooges, Velvet Underground and J.G. Ballard's Crash -- and a bizarre number entitled "Mayonnaise," based around Boris' amplified viola and primitive electronic "beats" sequenced on Cohen's Serge synthesizer. These two cuts were used to hustle additional studio time from Epic Records through Sly Stone's A&R, Stephen Paley. Three more maniacal songs of arch art-punk with killer pop hooks -- "Bored Stiff," "Bad Teeth," and "Sleep Cure" -- were all recorded in one five to six hour session at Columbia Studios in May 1974. With Cohen patching musique concrète sounds through the Serge, set against Gray's banshee guitar-playing and Hall's snotty vocals, the Jack Ruby sound was formed. But a record deal evaded them. Cohen left and started a new career as a writer for Late Night With David Letterman and, later, as The Ethicist, a columnist for The New York Times solving readers' ethical problems. In 1976, Hall and Gray reactivated Jack Ruby as a live-performing unit with George Scott on bass. They played harder, faster and louder than any other band in New York at that time. Their rehearsals at Matrix studios, and dusk-to-dawn parties at the Bowery apartment behind CBGB's shared by Gray and Scott, became a cult draw for other NYC punk and no wave musicians. Hall quit the band unexpectedly in 1977, days before their first scheduled gig. Jack Ruby continued on as a power trio with Gray, by now the only original member, taking over vocal duties for a couple of shows alongside Teenage Jesus And The Jerks and the Fleshtones, before disbanding for good after one last riotous show with new vocalist Stephen Barth at Max's Kansas City, formerly stalking ground of the band's idols, The Velvet Underground. Hit and Run is a two-disc set of everything Jack Ruby recorded between 1973 and 1977 (across four incarnations of the band) that should see them acknowledged as one of the most radical and brilliantly original groups to emerge from the 1970s New York City music scene. Remastered from recently-discovered master tapes, the first disc collects all five of the band's studio recordings, which although 40 years-old still sound thrillingly urgent and modern, alongside a 1977 cassette of a band rehearsal, and a 2013 remix by producer Don Fleming. Disc two contains another side to Jack Ruby; a series of largely-electronic, avant-garde pieces from 1972 and 1974 -- nine short tracks that play like a library record, book-ended by two longer ones -- some of the earliest extant recordings made on a Serge synthesizer. What Jack Ruby left is a remarkable legacy of recorded music -- hidden for decades, now-revealed -- constituting a previously-unheard secret history of the New York City music scene of the early 1970s."

Hot Garbage

Spun
Mothland
2026
"Calling on the driving rhythms of dark post-punk and motorik krautrock, Toronto’s Hot Garbage seamlessly work shining melodies and swirling textures into deliberate, brooding arrangements. Fans of Sonic Youth, Broadcast and 70’s era Iggy Pop should no doubt find a familiar pull into their raw sound, which draws inspiration from a wide and eclectic range of musical genres and art forms. As they put the last touch on a third long-player to be announced later this year, the four-piece further venture into noise rock with the release of standalone single SPUN, scheduled for May 12th, 2026 via Mothland.
Following the release of EPs Max Blonda in November 2017 and Coco’s Paradise in April 2019, Hot Garbage entered the studio with Juno-nominated producer Graham Walsh (of evil experimental Toronto supergroup Holy F*ck) in early 2020 to cut a selection of tracks live off the floor. The result was a blazing standalone single, Easy Believer, and the group’s debut long play offering, RIDE, composed of 33 reverb-soaked minutes to be pressed to vinyl and released on Mothland in October 2021. Stephan Boissonneault at Aquarium Drunkard refers to the album as “a feast for the senses containing fuzz-filled riffs, whirling organ, an adept utilization of post-punk auxiliary percussion, and hypnotic vox,” adding that “it’s the kind of album you throw on loud when you want to get lost and laugh into the void.” British critic Iain Key at Louder Than War stoically bestows his seal of approval: “Highly Recommended”. They followed with Precious Dream (January 19th, 2024 via Mothland & Exag’ Records), a sprawling collection of songs written in isolation and brought together in studio in late 2022 with visionary producer Graham Walsh (METZ, Preoccupations, Holy Fuck, !!!) at the helm once again, offering an exhilarating new breath into the world of post-punk and modern psychedelia, a listening experience that is equally cathartic and introspective. Singles were championed by SiriusXM The Verge, the full-length climbing to #1 on !Earshot’s Top 50 and #56 on NACC’s Top 200. BrooklynVegan’s Bill Pearis describes it as “superior garage rock with a healthy dose of gothy post-punk”, Exclaim! adding: “Precious Dream is just as shadowy and weird as much of the great garage psych out there, and while it may not rewrite the book on guitars, keys and drums, it's still a monolithic release for Hot Garbage that should secure their status as the always-shifting genre's new vanguard. 8/10”
Aside from studio endeavours, Hot Garbage have toured their intense live sets throughout Canada, the United States, Europe and the United Kingdom, including stops at festivals like LEVITATION, Freakout Fest, Purple City, M for Montreal, Sled Island, and Pop Montreal. In addition to touring in support of contemporaries L.A. Witch and Frankie & The Witch Fingers, the road-hungry quartet has also shared stages with Osees, Ty Segall, Geese, Mdou Moctar, Wand, Kikagaku Moyo, JJUUJJUU, and Dead Meadow. After catching them live, Ben Lemieux at Quip Magazine concluded that “the band understands the theatrically implied expectations of the genre, striking a perfect balance between the gossamer vocal quality of early shoegaze and the cranked-up, guitar pyrotechnics emblematic of the 60s and 70s rockers.”" ...................... Sex Mex
Ride Or Die
Singles
Candy-O Records
2026
From Singles, released May 7, 2026. "When a 13-year-old Clark Gray first heard “Hope” — the buzzing, two-minute breakup classic by Descendents — it started an obsession with melodic garage punk that set him on the path to becoming Sex Mex, a solo artist from San Antonio, Texas writing his own energetic hooks by the fistful. .................... Gray has been churning out recordings largely on his own at a brisk pace since 2021. His sound is equal parts Big Black, if that abrasive combo were employed at an amusement park, and Grouplove, if the latter’s anthemic “Tongue Tied” were played by a construction crew through a broken speaker. Sex Mex songs like “Fucking It Up” and “Dragging Me Around” bristle with lo-fi energy and a sense of fun meant to be enjoyed without scrutiny. Oddball bards like Mike Krol and Jay Reatard would be proud. ...................... Hyperactivity is baked into the Sex Mex experience. “When I was younger I was just a really annoying kid who did stuff to piss people off,” Gray says. “I’m toned down in day to day life now, but all that energy needs to go somewhere, so I guess it just gets funneled into music.” .................. This energetic purity also keeps Sex Mex’s output honest and free of excess. Gray’s releases are typically short: The two most recent EPs, Down in the Dump Trucks and Don’t Mess With Sex Mex, follow an honorable punk tradition of not conceding productivity or artistry to the almighty full-length album. “The idea of an album is so alluring to people that they’ll completely ignore something just because it’s called Singles 06, 07, 08 or whatever,” Gray says. “I just want to avoid that.” ...................... "Catch Sex Mex on the tail end of his current "Tour Of the Rust Belt" (pretty much the part that is already out of it at this point...) .............. Thu May 14 @ Mag Bar, Louisville, KY --------- Fri May 15 @ Havenhaus, Memphis, TN --------- Sat May 16 @ Banks Street Bar, New Orleans, LA -------- Sun May 17 @ 1810 Ojeman, Houston, TX --------- Sat May 23 @ Hi-Tones, San Antonio, TX. ---- https://sexmexsux.bandcamp.com/

Cruel Bore
D.O. & The Bytes LP
Total Punk Records
2026
"Releases June 12, 2026" First single (May 8) ahead of the newest CC album, already on pre-order through Total Punk Record... "Cherry Cheeks are back with their third album, and it’s a concept album! A concept album is a bold statement and The Cheeks manage to pull it off and then some.. Over the course of 14 tracks we follow our digital hero D.O as he is pursued by the evil Reapers. Their goal: to wipe his memory, but in service of who? It's a rock opera by way of a really awesome Saturday morning cartoon! Kyle Harms' song writing chops have leveled up, and this thing is nothing but hits top to bottom. It drills its way into your head! Tough when it needs to be but also oozing with pop hooks. Kyle handled everything from playing all the instruments and production, which is incredible, to the impeccable art. It’s a testament to his talent that he can pull this off without delving into the world of the hokey. The lyrics and story telling are really astounding. Nice to see a hometown kid knock it so far out the park. Grab your cereal and tune in to the world of D.O. & The Bytes. It will most likely seem very familiar. 100% TOTAL PUNK!!!!!!" https://totalpunkrecords.bandcamp.com/

Cost of Living Adjustment
Fire Talk Records
2026
"Ahead of the release of their new album, Cost of Living Adjustment, this Friday (May 8), Cola have shared one more single, ‘Haveluck Country’. Following previous entries ‘Hedgesitting’ and ‘Conflagration Mindset’, it comes paired with a music video helmed by Camille Anais Semprez and Cedar Teionietathe Jocks. “We knew from the get that we wanted to work with Camille Anais Semprez and Cedar Teionietathe Jocks again—the filmmaking duo who crafted the video for ‘So Excited’ and kicked off our debut album so brilliantly,” the band said in a statement. “They took Tim to a western movie set in the deep desert, abandoned of activity in the midnight hours. .................. “It was the perfect setting to investigate the themes of the song,” they continued “What does it mean to live in the Haveluck Country anyways? The ‘red right hand’ could be of a gunslinger swinging a gun arm out in earnest—or pure camp. A metaphor for an archaic political climate. Who needs vaccines anyways? Take your vitamins. Is the sun perhaps setting on the old west? Is the pathetic and imaginary political promise of the ‘shining city on the hill’ vacant and empty as a western saloon façade??”" Video here: Cola - Haveluck Country (Official Music Video) .................................. "Cola is a post-punk band from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The band consists of Tim Darcy (vocals, guitar), Ben Stidworthy (bass), and Evan Cartwright (drums). ................... The band's roots trace back to late 2019, when members of Ought, Tim Darcy and Ben Stidworthy, began writing music with Evan Cartwright of U.S. Girls. Darcy and Sidworthy were in Montreal at the time, while Cartwright was in Toronto. After informal writing and music sessions, the members began exchanging lyrics and song ideas into 2020 and 2021. In November 2021, the band Ought announced their disbandment, and announced the band, Cola the same day. With the announcement of the band was the release of their debut single, "Blank Curtain"."

Zouz
Le vice et le culte
Le vice et le culte [digital single]
Simone Records
2026
Released March 18, 2026. ................ Translated [by the machine]: "Vice and worship: zouz's powerful new track! ... "For the past ten years, zouz has been transforming chaos into living matter and carving it into refined noise rock. Through hundreds of uncompromising shows throughout Quebec and elsewhere, the trio reveals an energy that is both frontal and meticulously controlled. ........... After Jours de cendre (named Rock Album of the Year at ADISQ and awarded Rock Album of the Year at GAMIQ in 2025), zouz will release the new single "Le vice et le culte" in March 2026. Galvanizing and atypical, the song adopts a diptych structure that could be the omen of a 3rd album in progress. ................. Intense and condensed, the three minutes of the song grab the listener from the first note. The first scene, "Le vice", erects a wall of noise smashed by sharp guitar blows. In a half-word, the play depicts the urgency and helplessness caused by the inability to get rid of harmful habits. ..................... After a short breath, the second painting follows up with even more force: "The Cult". "What is hidden in the fashionable cure? What is hidden under this miracle cure? Carried by a frenetic groove, the second half of the diptych recalls one of zouz's signatures: a constant musical tension that turns into exhilarating energy. ................ With this new track, David Marchand (vocals and guitar), Étienne Dupré (bass) and Francis Ledoux (drums) continue the exploration of an abrasive and singular rock, where noise, precision and intensity meet in a rare balance. ........................... Since the release of Days of Ash, zouz has multiplied his recognitions and notable appearances on stage. Known for the power of his stage performances, zouz has presented his shows across Quebec and internationally, notably in the programming of major showcases such as The Great Escape (United Kingdom) and the Printemps de Bourges in 2025. Last summer, the trio also took part in many renowned local festivals, including the Francos de Montréal, La Noce and Le Festif!. ......................... With "Le vice et le culte", zouz begins a new chapter and sketches the contours of a long-awaited third album." .....................https://zouz.bandcamp

2026
Released April 24, 2026. ............ "Montréal’s Atsuko Chiba offer “pounding, angular rock” (BrooklynVegan), venturesomely crossing genre-defining borders with a cohesive and hypnotic blend of post-rock, progressive rock, and krautrock, weaving together a rich sonic tapestry that subverts through offbeat songwriting. Since forming, they have released three full-length albums (Jinn, Trace, and Water, It Feels Like It’s Growing), two EPs (Figure and Ground and The Memory Empire), as well as a slew of singles, all of which they self-produced at Room 11, their home studio. After offering booming tracks “Pope’s Cocaine” and “Climax Therapy” in the Summer of 2025, the five-piece unveil Atsuko Chiba on April 24th, 2026 via Mothland, a self-titled long-player introducing elements from trip-hop, chamber pop, and ambient to their already sprawling psychedelic alloy. .................... Over the years, Atsuko Chiba have toured Canada, the United States, and Europe, adding a few dates in the United Kingdom, while also filming countless live renditions of their pieces, including a breathtaking session commissioned by Audiotree Worldwide in 2021. In concert, the five musicians combine their unique brand of experimental rock with video and light installations triggered in real time by the band, creating an immersive multisensorial environment. While taking to the road with their telepathic audiovisual tempest, the outfit have shared the stage with visionary acts, such as ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, Big Business, Duchess Says, King Buffalo, 65daysofstatic, and Caspian, while also performing notable events, the likes of Portals Festival, SXSW, Waking Windows, M for Montreal, FME, and Lawnya Vawnya. “On stage, Montréal quintet Atsuko Chiba manipulate our senses [...]” (Les Inrocks) .................... Formed in 2012, the collective is composed of founding members: Karim Lakhdar (vocals, guitar, synthesizer), who recently released Shwaya, Shwaya under his new moniker Boutique Feelings, Kevin McDonald (guitar, synthesizer), David Palumbo (bass, vocals), Anthony Piazza (drums, live projections), and Eric Schafhauser (guitar, synthesizer). Following two early recordings that showcase improvised sessions, Atsuko Chiba self-released a first full-length entitled Jinn (2013), “combining grand post-rock elements with electronic influences.” (Heavy Blog Is Heavy) They followed with two EPs in 2016, Figure and Ground and The Memory Empire, the latter prompting Exclaim!’s Matt Bobkin to write: “Their sound isn't easy to describe or digest, but with plenty of melodies stockpiled in their dense, shifting songs, they keep it as accessible as possible without playing it safe.” " Written, Produced, and Recorded by Atsuko Chiba // Mixed by Matthew Cerantola // Mastered by Harris Newman ............... https://atsukochiba.bandcamp.com/

2026
Released May 8, 2026. "Closed For The Festival is MIDI Janitor’s fourth full-length and is the follow-up to the Holy To Dogs LP, which was originally released on cassette in 2024 on legendary Vancouver tape label Hotham Sound and then in a vinyl edition by Toronto’s We Are Busy Bodies. .......................... Closed For The Festival will be the first MIDI Janitor record to be released exclusively by We Are Busy Bodies. The new album, Closed For The Festival, is a biography of Jonathan Orr’s shadow self. ......................... Born from memories of his childhood spent wandering rural Ireland in Ballymore, Donegal on his grandmother’s Christian commune, Closed For The Festival masterfully straddles the line between warped joy and sinister naivety. As Orr states, “the songs are always trying to get to that moment of taking your hand and walking you into the woods on a pretty spring afternoon and then abandoning you there to figure out ‘how do I get out of here?’” ............................... Closed For The Festival recalls the dream-logic electro of Boards Of Canada’s unreleased era, the smeared chords and junkyard beats of late career U-ziq, and the long-buried treasures uncovered by the Sublime Frequencies label, but is never willfully nostalgic in nature - each track is an incantation in honour of ‘thin places’, where the presence of an eternal moment seeps into the present moment - the uncanny feeling of which has followed The Midi Janitor throughout his life and creative work." https://themidijanitor.bandcamp.com/

The Bolshoi
Crosstown Traffic
Sob Story
Situation Two
1985
The band formed in 1984 in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, England. The original lineup consisted of singer/guitarist Trevor Tanner, drummer Jan Kalicki, and bassist Graham Cox. Stylistically, the Bolshoi were difficult to categorize. The band has been described as a proto-goth band, similar in their live act to fellow Beggars Banquet signees Bauhaus. Tanner was recognized for his dark, pensive lyrics that belied a social responsibility and awareness.
After the release of Lindy's Party, the band recorded a fourth album. However, problems with their record-label management impeded its release, and they disbanded in 1988. In December 2018, the Bolshoi's official Facebook page announced that frontman Trevor Tanner and keyboardist Paul Clark were developing a new project, tentatively called the Bolshoi Brothers.
In November 2022, following the launch of their website, the Bolshoi Brothers released the song "Steam Funk." In 2025, the duo finally unleashed their self-titled debut album.

Johnny Cash
All I Do Is Drive
Ragged Old Flag
Sony
1974
Ragged Old Flag is the 47th album by American country music singer Johnny Cash, released on Columbia Records in 1974. The album addresses several political as well as ethical issues, like many of Cash's other releases. The title track, and the only single from the album, is a spoken word tribute to patriotism amid the Watergate scandal. "Don't Go Near the Water" addresses another hot political issue of the time, the environment. All of the songs on the album were composed by Cash, save "I'm a Worried Man" by himself and June Carter Cash. Cash openly shared how the political climate had forced Richard Nixon's resignation and caused him to question certain U.S. policies, though he still wanted to create a narrative celebrating the enduring goodness of the American people. Despite his religious upbringing and penchant for gospel music, Johnny Cash once pushed back against the notion some held of him as “a conservative country singer who lives down in the South somewhere.”
“The misconception is that I’m regional,” Cash told Steve Turner in a 1988 interview. “They might even sometimes imply that I’m a redneck. Heaven forbid, a bigot. But I’ve been everywhere, and I’ve seen almost everything.”

I Monster
The Backseat of My Car
Neveroddoreven
Dharma
2004
I Monster are Dean Honer part of hitmaking crew All Seeing Eye in the 90s and 00s, and more recently Moonlandingz, and Jarrod Gosling of Cobalt Chapel. I Monster had first appeared in the late 1990s, initially on a series of underground Sheffield compilations, and by the turn of the millennium had already released their debut, the now ultra-rare These Are Our Children. If you have TikTok or insta, you have heard their song "Who Is She"...trust me. "Instead of joining the drum ‘n’ bass/jungle thing – which we really liked, but there was a lot of people doing it, and doing it really well – we started chopping up jazz rock loops; easy listening loops, with strings and trumpets. Stuff like James Last or somebody more obscure.
Due to that, it didn’t sound like dance music. Even though it had samples in it and was groove-based. It wasn’t four-to-the-floor or anything like that.
And then because of the type of music — it inspired doing some kind of lyrics, even if it was just, say, one word. And that’s what started the song idea over the top. Very basic, simple things at first. And then it grew from that. ‘Daydream’ was one of the tracks from that era."

Twisted Chords
2009
A song about the love/hate relationships and dependency we have with cars. Written by a bunch of old broken German dudes who have been doing this under the radar for over 27 years at the time of this release. They are politically engaged and motivated..."I've never been an optimist, but now I'm even more pessimistic. But actually, the question of how we get our lives together is a recurring theme throughout the album. On the one hand, we sing about emotional and psychological problems and addictive behavior, but of course, we also address political issues. Climate change and the behavior of old white men also play a role on the album."

Net is a four-piece space wave band from Oklahoma City. Formed in 2017, Net’s lineup—John Baber, Andy Escobar, Tommy McKenzie, and Kyle Vasquez—includes members, collaborators, and alumni of experimental rock bands Ester Drang, Stardeath and White Dwarfs, and the Chainsaw Kittens, to name only a few.
The band established a trademark sound on 2018 debut “Memory Swipe,” the recording and live shows both channeling the innovation of Talking Heads, the pulsing blasé of “The Idiot”-era Iggy Pop, and the hooky electronica of Gary Numan. Regional touring followed, including shows as direct support for the Flaming Lips and Closeness (members of the Faint, Azure Ray).

Black Wire motivated the Kaiser Chiefs to write a song. That it happened one night in Leeds, UK, when the band drove the crowd at the HiFi Club to the brink of anarchy. You’re supposed to see an up-and-coming post-punk band hurling themselves around like voluntary lunatics, an audience of hipsters pogoing their fuckin’ brains out, and security inching ever closer to the stage. Behind you and to your left — beside the cute girl who’s sweeping her bangs off to the side — the Chiefs’ drummer Nick Hodgson is saying the four words that triggered his band’s success: “I Predict a Riot”. After some poor reviews and little success....Black Wire disbanded in 2010.

Due out May 22nd 2026 on Fuzz Club, the band’s second full-length 'Ígnea' is a raw blast of heavy motorik drive and industrial psych intensity that's built to dance as it burns. The band have also just revealed details for a London show at Strongroom on October 2nd, with more European dates to be announced soon. ........................... Stripped to the core with the live show in mind, 'Ígnea' finds pedal-processed synthesisers and a relentless bass-and-drums backbone powering songs of resistance and ignition: "The name of the album refers to fire, which for us symbolises transformation and change. Just as a spark can ignite a fire, Ígnea represents that ignition point, the beginning of something that burns, expands, and transforms." .......................... On the new single ‘Incendiar’, which follows the recent ‘Desafiar’ Mirror Revelations say: “Incendiar is a track driven by a solid motorik rhythm, featuring a fiery, minimal bassline and dark synths that define the mood alongside the vocals. The lyrics reflect how we live immersed in social media, chasing likes, believing lies, and following patterns that dictate how to speak, dress, and act. They are direct and repetitive, almost like a command, highlighting obedience to the constant stream of content.” ................. Mirror Revelation's second full-length and first on their new label home Fuzz Club arrives following their debut album 'Aura', released in 2023 and supported by heavy gigging in Mexico and a UK and European tour the following year. ................. Entirely written, recorded and produced by the band, the transformation heard on 'Ígnea' is something equally darker and more hedonistic, and all the more cathartic for it: "Ígnea maintains the motorik, kraut and psych roots that defined Aura, but this time we wanted to fully embrace the ideology of 'less is more'. We decided to reduce the instrumentation so the record could translate more faithfully, powerfully and energetically into our live set. This time we also explored new rhythms with the intention of creating a rawer album, where repetition and intensity carry the message. All the songs revolve around resistance and an inner awakening in the face of oppression and imposition. Lyrically, the album moves away from the more dreamy and spiritual tone of Aura. On Ígnea, we speak about a harsher reality, reflecting the concerns that are increasingly present in our everyday lives."" Mirror Revelations - Incendiar (Official Video)

....In "Jane From Occupied Europe"
Rather / Rough Trade Records
1980
"Jane from Occupied Europe is the second and final album by the English post-punk band Swell Maps. It was released in 1980 by Rather Records and Rough Trade. In 1989, the album was reissued with eight bonus tracks by Mute, and this edition was subsequently reissued in 2004 by Secretly Canadian. ............. In 2016, Paste ranked Jane from Occupied Europe at number 42 on its list of the best post-punk albums. In 2018, Pitchfork listed it as the 165th best album of the 1980s. Pitchfork's Judy Berman wrote: "Swell Maps pasted mostly incomprehensible, drawled vocals into noisy, krautrock-inspired sound collages, straying further beyond the boundaries of any existing genre with each release. Their second album, Jane from Occupied Europe, marked the culmination of that trajectory. It was, most of all, a catalog of thrilling new sounds". ------------ "Swell Maps: English post-punk group, formed in 1972 in Birmingham, England, UK by brothers Kevin Godfrey (aka Epic Soundtracks) and Adrian Godfrey (aka Nikki Sudden). The lineup was completed with Richard Earl (aka Biggles Books), David Barrington (aka Phones B. Sportsman), John Cockrill (aka Golden Cockrill) and Stephen Bird (aka Jowe Head). After releasing two albums and four singles they disbanded in 1980. A new lineup, led by Jowe Head (Stephen Bird), initially performed as Swell Maps C21, and finally reverted to the original name in 2026."

NEU! 2
Brain / United Artists
1973
Neu: "German krautrock band formed in Düsseldorf in 1971 by Klaus Dinger and Michael Rother, after their split from Kraftwerk. The group's albums were produced by Conny Plank, who has been regarded as the group's "hidden member". Though Neu! had minimal commercial success during its existence, the band is retrospectively considered one of the founders of krautrock and a significant influence on a variety of subsequent rock, post-punk, and electronic music artists." ................ "Neu! 2 is the second studio album by the krautrock band Neu!. It was recorded in January 1973 and mixed in February 1973, both at Windrose-Dumont-Time Studios in Hamburg, West Germany, and released in 1973 by Brain Records. It was reissued by Astralwerks in the US and by Grönland in the UK and Europe on 29 May 2001. ................. Critic Paul Morley included it in a list of the "100 Greatest Albums of All Time" in 2003. ........... This album further focused the classic Neu! krautrock sound, with the opening track "Für Immer" being an archetypal example of their style — a forward-driving vamp propelled by Klaus Dinger's motorik drumming and Michael Rother's layered guitars. Pitchfork described the album as featuring a proto-punk sound, while Fact labeled it "spartan psych-rock set to power-driven drum tracks." ............. Side 2 of the record caused consternation at the time. Neu! had run out of money to finish recording the album, so the second side consists entirely of their previously released single "Neuschnee/Super", manipulated at various playback speeds on a record player and a cassette recorder. Critics at the time dismissed this as a cheap gimmick. While it was born of necessity, it was entirely in keeping with Neu!'s pop art aesthetics, taking a "readymade" sound object and re-presenting it with a series of manipulations, and also in keeping with the way Neu! deconstructed and pared down rock music. Dinger subsequently pointed to side 2 as being a prototype of the multiple remixes which typically accompany contemporary pop singles."

"Space Age Batchelor Pad Music (also known as The Groop Played "Space Age Batchelor Pad Music") is an EP (or "mini-LP"), originally released in March 1993. The release became an underground hit, and led to the band securing its first major-label record deal. .................... The title is spelled Space Age Batchelor Pad Music on the front cover, though not on the back cover or spine; The sleeve and label designs use artwork and text from Vanguard Records' "Stereolab" hi-fi test record after which the group was named, including the "flagbearer on horseback" logo of Vanguard Records itself.

The Two Koreas
A Neu Ing/No More Drinking With Estonians
Sessions E.P.
Unfamiliar Records
2008
Explained best by Exclaim's Cam Lindsay, from his article published Jun 3, 2008: "I've always felt [Toronto's] The Two Koreas were into some risky business. First off, as widely reported in the city of Toronto since their inception, three-fifths of the band are not only well-known music (and film) writers, but they're all from local [now defunct] alt-weekly Eye Weekly. Secondly, it's been said many a times that the idea behind the band was to pay tribute to the Fall, but after putting some thought into it they couldn't decide which era of Mark E. Smith's shape-shifting career to tackle (a great punch line, I gotta say). And then, for the most part, they turned around and sounded more like the Fall than Pavement, a band unabashed about their "Fall love, ever did. Talk about leaving yourself open to scenester (and Mark E. Smith's) disparagement. ......................................... Well, that was all over four years ago [from 2008], and to be fair, the Two Koreas ape more than just Totale's Turns, but that seems to be the fun of it for them. (Plus, why wouldn't like-minded, educated music fans unashamedly borrow from their favourites?) Surprisingly for some, they've made quite a run out of it too, recording two[+] well-received LPs 2005's Main Plates & Classic Pies and 2007's "Altruists" [+ more albums since] - mashing their collected influences to give us a history lesson covering Krautrock to the aughties' rock revival. ................... And now, for the hell of it, they've compiled some live off the floor recordings from an appearance on XM Radio's The Verge 52 for an EP fittingly titled Sessions complete with artwork paying tongue-in-cheek homage to those timeless Peel Sessions (look closely and you'll see what I mean). Comprised of cuts from both albums, the Two Koreas truck their way through an eight-song set with both the requisite nonchalance and an unbridled energy. Having seen them on a number of different occasions over the last four years, these recordings show major improvement in their prowess as performers, and growth as both songwriters and piss-takers."

Les Succès Du Soldat Lebrun
Carnaval
1964
Roland Lebrun was born into a family of musicians in Amqui, Quebec (east of Rimouski). During World War II, much of the province resisted conscription efforts to fight what was seen as Great Britain’s battle. But Lebrun signed up with the regiment des Voltigeurs, only to become ill for some time. While recovering, he began composing songs that reflected the hopes and anxieties, religion, patriotism and love of family felt by soldiers. His recordings, including L’adieu du soldat, were heard on radio station CHRC in Quebec City. In turn, Canadian Army authorities enlisted Lebrun in a new war effort. He made several tours of army bases, radio stations and music stages in Quebec, in the Maritimes and in other provinces. After the war, Lebrun had a successful career as a country artist – one song was titled La vie d’un cowboy. Accompanying himself on guitar, he continued to sing until well into the 1960s. At one point, he toured in Quebec with his family of five children. He recorded more than 200 songs over his career and sold more than 1 million copies. He died in 1980.

1967
The Haunted were a Canadian garage rock band from Montreal, Quebec. The band was formed by Jurgen Peter (guitar) in 1965, and went on to release several records before finally disbanding in 1971.They were among the first Canadian bands to achieve a level of success in their musical genre. The band grew to be one of the most in demand bands in Canada for the balance of the 1960s and into the early 1970s. Symes decided to fold the band in 1971, commenting as follows: "We were the most sought after and highest paid Canadian band for many years. When I folded the band in 1971, I had to cancel a whole year of advance bookings and it cost me a fortune in lawyer's fees to get out of some of them."
Subsequent to the breakup of the band, control of the band's name appears to have been lost. As of 1996, the name is most closely associated with a Swedish heavy metal band. :-( Also highly recommended...their AMAZING French language cover of Purple Haze....

Louise Forestier
Prison de Londres
La Prison de Londres
Unidisc
1973
Louise Forestier’s rendition of the traditional folk song Dans la prison de Londres is widely celebrated by critics and fans as a landmark track in Quebec’s musical history. It marked a defining artistic shift for Forestier, moving her away from the hard-edged, psychedelic rock of her earlier career into a deeply personal, Quebec-rooted folk style. orestier’s performance is both rebellious and charismatic. Her energetic vocals capture the folklore narrative perfectly, making the song an enduring staple of the chanson québécoise repertoire.
Louise Forestier has been a leading figure in Quebec culture for close to 50 years. Since the beginning of her career, she has been an ambassador of Quebec song as both a singer and songwriter, becoming known to the general public through the legendary show Osstidcho. She has produced over 20 albums, numerous shows in Canada and Europe, and such timeless songs as “La Saisie.” She also performed in large-scale musical productions, including Starmania and Nelligan, and has participated in numerous television series and films, including “Orderers”. She is also involved in training young artists and was a coach at the Festival en chanson de Petite-Vallée, in Gaspé. She was awarded the Order of Canada in 2013.

Sacred Times
Goner Records
2024
“Over the past decade, Montreal’s PyPy achieved cult status with one release and crazy live shows. Sacred Times cranks up the madness to an unadulterated 11.” Annie-Claude Deschênes’s vicious banshee vocal screams are still strong and true, and she slays on the toy-like synthesizers, as Roy Vucino’s shifting monster guitar riffs put you in a state of wild delirium. Philippe Clement’s bass riffs are as thick as golden molasses and Simon Besré’s drums, while steady, have many freakout flourishes as well.

2024
One of theee best bands out of Quebec, DVTR’s French-speaking, female-fronted, short and not sweet at all diatribes about vasectomy for all, rum, coke and MDMA have been compared to Jay Reatard meets the B-52s or Atari Teenage Riot and escribed as “A simple fuck off to anyone who’d need a reminder before everything burns.” Jean Divorce: Our music is an eclectic mix of thrash punk and electroclash so I think that stands out on its own, but we started this band to have fun and we want people that see us to have fun too. I get what we do is quite niche and might not appeal to everyone.
Demi Lune: We’ve actually had people come up to us and say I don’t like your band at all but I loved the show!
Jean Divorce: There’s not a lot of people in Quebec. I think it’s around eight million in the principal part. We don’t give a damn about being played on radio stations any more. Of course there are college radio stations and the BBC of Canada which is CBC that might occasionally play us, but the main stations would never play us or any of the bands we’re talking about. Not at all. It’s been like this for six or seven years. No interesting artist or band has been discovered on the radio in Quebec.

Alix Fernz
Défigurée
Bizou
Alix Fernz
2024
Director Alexandre Fournier, under the pseudonym Alix Fernz, is by turns immersive and vibrant, and at times biting and strident, relying on the unlikely combination of candid lyrics and claustrophobic production. While certainly demanding on first listen, the album nevertheless contains within its psychoactive grooves a romanticism of unexpected purity, the Montreal artist drawing inspiration directly from the raw material of his daily life, his immediate surroundings.
On this introductory album, Alix Fernz deliberately abandons the Cartesian formulas (verses, choruses, bridges, and other tropes) of pop songs, opting instead for a serpentine prose where progressive pieces unfold in a sinuous fashion, subtly shifting from post-punk to synthwave to hypnagogic pop. Throughout its 32 most unusual minutes, Bizou depicts, through realistic, frank and grounded poetry, a reality with reddish hues, where nocturnal scenes unfold, ranging from reverie to nightmare.

Fleur de Peau
Le Monstre
Le Monstre
Indica Records
2026
The synth-pop musical project Fleur de Peau was born in January 2023. It consists of Louis Fernandez, multi-instrumentalist (guitar, bass, keyboards, etc.) and Élie Dubois-Sénéchal on vocals.
Fleur de Peau's sound is melancholic, impactful, and poetic. It's a project that reflects both a queer and feminist reality and a personal, emotional approach to the urgency of living. "Bam Bam depicts a person slipping into a numb, passive lifestyle to avoid confronting their inner demons.
With its 80s synth-pop feel, Le Monstre draws us into a dark world of decay and self-sabotage. We follow a figure who keeps hitting the void harder and harder, hoping to stifle the inner chaos before it explodes.
The song highlights this tension between the desire to escape and the inability to save oneself, creating a hypnotic, pulsating atmosphere. A beat that resonates like a final warning: Are we truly alive if we live like the dead?

Rational Youth
I Want To See The Light
Cold War Night Life Expanded
EMI
1997
Rational Youth is widely considered one of Canada's pioneering and most influential synth-pop bands. Formed in Montreal in 1981 by musicians Tracy Howe and Bill Vorn, they became known for their distinctly European, Kraftwerk-inspired electronic sound mixed with sharp, Cold War-era lyrical themes.
Among the band's notable singles were "Saturdays in Silesia" and "Dancing on the Berlin Wall," from their debut album, Cold War Night Life (1982); and "In Your Eyes" and "Holiday in Bangkok," from Heredity (1985) (both tracks appeared previously on a Rational Youth mini-album from 1983).
In 1999, Rational Youth, with a new lineup of original frontman Howe and new keyboard players Jean-Claude Cutz and Dave Rout, they released their first album in fourteen years, "To The Goddess Electricity".
In 2000, a special limited edition five cd-single boxset was realesed. It contained "Rational Youth EP", "Coboliod Race", "City of Night", "Saturdays in Silesia" and "In Your Eyes", all in paper sleeves resembling the vinyl originals.

Yalla Miku
Asmazate
Yalla Miku
Bongo Joe
2023
Released March 31, 2023 ........ "Yalla Miku’s frenetic and uplifting debut album is a genre twister, with musicians from North and East Africa coming together with various musical alchemists from Geneva’s burgeoning and experimentally minded, global music scene. It’s a thrilling mix of Moroccan gnawa, haunting guembri melodies and krar riffs with shoots of house and electronica and krautrock grooves and ultimately a testament to the community led, punk approach that many creatives from the Bongo Joe Record label, and beyond, adhere to. ................ With its sparkling buildings and luxury boutiques, Geneva is a place that exudes wealth. As the host of some of the world’s most powerful financial institutions, the Swiss city is celebrated for its multiculturalism — mostly the “multiculturalism" of English-speaking expats, of the rich and privately educated. But just beneath this polished exterior lies Geneva’s true soul, one that pulsates in the city’s historical squats, in its North African eateries, and in the venues where artists, musicians, and activists meet. This is the Geneva both fostered and uncovered by Bongo Joe through their label, record store, and café, a community-oriented and welcoming space overlooking the River Rhône ................... Yalla Miku perfectly encapsulates this ideal and translate it into a borderless, syncretic sound. Yeterian (banjo, electric guitar, voice) and Cyril Cyril bandmate Cyril Bondi (drums and voice) founded the group with the idea of bringing together the different facets of Geneva’s music scene, so they teamed up with post-disco electro pop duo Hyperculte, composed of Simone Aubert of Tout Bleu and Massicot (on synths, guitar, and vocals) and Orchester Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp founder Vincent Bertholet (on bass and vocals), and invited three immigrant musicians they had gotten to know through their events at the Bongo Joe store and cafè: Moroccan guembri player Anouar Baouna, Eritrean krar player Samuel Ades and Algerian darbouka player Ali Bouchaki. ................. The idea however was not to follow the tired and sometimes clichèd ways of “fusion” music by appropriating non-Western styles and collaborating with foreign artists to create a seamlessly blended sound. Quite the opposite: Yalla Miku honor this meeting of cultures by specifically drawing attention to those points of contrast between different traditions, voices, and instruments, creating a lively, polyphonic conversation that gives each musician the freedom to improvise and tell their own story. ................ The Western-born musicians composed the base for each track, and the three non-Western artists built on it through the prism of their own musical heritage. “It was a difficult challenge for them to try and understand and adapt to this music, and in a way it’s like a metaphor for the difficulties they had in their life while settling in Europe” explains Yeterian. ............... Borrowing as much from gnawa and Eritrean folklore as it does from krautrock and electro-trance, Yalla Miku’s militant debut album dissolves sonic borders and imagines a world without geographical ones, where people are free to move without peril." https://yallamiku.bandcamp.com/

Choses Sauvages are De Montréal, Québec .................... Translated [somewhat] from the French re: "Wild Things" - "Alone": "Almost a year after the release of their third volume, Choses Sauvages are back with the single Seul which arrives in anticipation of a compilation of singles that will be released on vinyl for Record Store Day, April 18. The song evokes new wave with its syncopated guitars and synthesizers, but also keeps the natural bite of the band. ................. Félix Bélisle of Choses Sauvages said of the song: "Seul traité de limerence et de la romanisation des relations toxics. This song is a question sent to others and to oneself. When the obsession with finding answers to questions of the heart embraces the vulnerability of a child lost in a shopping mall. These states of mind are based on sounds that are both danceable and abrasive, borrowing from the New York No wave movement."" href="https://chosessauvages.bandcamp.com/

"Steven Umoh, better known by his stage name Obongjayar, is a Nigerian singer based in London, England. After releasing several EPs, his debut studio album, Some Nights I Dream of Doors, was released in 2022, followed by Paradise Now in 2025. ................... Steven Umoh grew up in Calabar, Nigeria. He was raised by his grandmother; his mother had moved to the UK to escape Umoh's father, who was abusive. Early in his life, Umoh primarily listened to bootleg rap, particularly Eminem, Usher, Nelly, Snoop Dogg and Ciara. .......................... Umoh moved to live with his mother in England at the age of 17, but stayed active in the Nigerian music scene. He grew up a devoutly religious Christian, but became less so after he attended university in Norwich. In college, he sang primarily in an American accent, influenced by his childhood spent listening to American hip hop music, but he reverted to singing in his natural Nigerian-British accent before embarking on his professional career. ......................... Obongjayar started his career publishing his music on SoundCloud. His work caught the notice of XL Recordings executive Richard Russell, who then asked Obongjayar to contribute to his Everything Is Recorded project. In 2016, Obongjayar released his first extended play, Home, described by Noisey as "a unique voice: one that navigates darkness with nocturnal, near-spiritual hymns." ......................... He followed Home with a second EP, Bassey, which was noted for its sparse production and afrobeat rhythms, as well as its themes of spirituality, politics, and his experiences as a Black person. He also contributed to Richard Russell's 2017 EP, Close But Not Quite. ......................In 2019, Obongjayar featured on rapper Danny Brown's fifth studio album U Know What I'm Sayin? on the tracks "Belly of the Beast" and "uknowhatimsayin¿". ........................... In collaboration with afrobeat producer Sarz, Obongjayar released a third EP, Sweetness, in 2021. He featured on rapper Little Simz's studio album Sometimes I Might Be Introvert on the fourth single "Point and Kill", which was later accompanied by a music video. Obongjayar also released the song and music video "Message in a Hammer", the lead single for his debut album. Some Nights I Dream of Doors was released in May 2022 and was later nominated for the Best Album Ivor Novello Award on 18 May 2023. .................... In 2023, Obongjayar collaborated with Fred Again on the single "Adore U". The song was certified platinum in Australia and in the UK. ......................... Obongjayar's music has been called "hard to describe,” incorporating elements of Indie electronic, spoken word, soul, and electronic music. His lyrics incorporate spiritual overtones, although they are not readily identifiable with any specific religious tradition. A unifying feature of all of Obongjayar's music is his unique voice, which slides between rapping, singing, and spoken word."

Turbo
2026
Tiga’s fourth studio album, HOTLIFE, is a triumphant, self-assured return to the minimalist electroclash and acid-house roots that made him famous. Released via Turbo Recordings / Secret City, the record seamlessly blends his signature deadpan, hedonistic humor with fresh 80s synth-pop and club-ready grooves. True to his producer-artist strengths, Tiga enlisted a tight-knit roster of guest artists to elevate the album. Beyond his longtime collaborators like Boys Noize and Matthew Dear, the record features promising newer acts like Fcukers and Maara. On HOTLIFE, Tiga taps back into that crossover energy that’ll live forever. He’s reconvened with seasoned contemporaries Boys Noize, Matthew Dear and Paranoid London, but also brought some contemporary innovators into the mix, including Jump Source, Fcukers, and MRD. The result is the hottest and liveliest Tiga record: More infectious singles that astoundingly stand next to his classics, and fresh, sparse techno that shows his finger remains on the pulse of what’s in.
The charming opener “Hot Wife” is all of this: A massive mouth-bassline like Bobby McFerrin on overdrive; Boys Noize’s thumping, clattering percussion; and Tiga’s vain, nonchalant utterances honoring his hot wife. His coolness is indisputable. - Treblezine

FET.NAT
Patio Monday
Le Mal
Boiled Records
2019
The music of Gatineau’s FET.NAT may hint at post-punk’s anything-goes sound palette, but the true resemblance is in its free-spirited exploratory ethos. The group is about the furthest thing from a revisionist homage as can be. Instead, they offer a philosophical continuation—gaze oriented firmly forward and propelled by personal exploration. While the aforementioned wave of post-punk nostalgia was sweeping rock underground, percussionist and electronics player Olivier Fairfield and guitarist and bassist Pierre-Luc Clément were forging the creative partnership that remains the band’s core.
In spite of the numerous moments that radiate the energy of a bona fide band thrashing away together in a room, amps cranked, the fact of the matter is that FET.NAT’s music is conceived as fiction first. Rather than transposing their organic ensemble interplay to the studio, they work in the opposite direction, reverse-engineering their recordings for the stage. The music’s gestation is almost alchemical. “There’s not really a proper rehearsal prior to a recording,” Clément explains. “We book a session and hope for the best. If we need to do more, we do more in the studio. It’s always made in puzzle-pieces in a way. Some people are more responsible for the foundation, but it doesn’t really matter, in the end. All we need is someone with an idea.” - Nick Storring

Elle Barbara
Word On The Street
house of barbara
2025
I couldn't do a Quebec set without adding Elle Barbara, and arguably what could be considered the most straighforward...but also most lovely song on the album. “I love the fact that I’m original. I think it’s one of the qualities I can genuinely claim for myself without being pretentious,” says Barbara. “I have a weirdo thing, a bit of an outsider thing about me, which probably stems from having been raised in a familial environment that was perhaps a bit judgmental and strict.” As she was writing this record, She transitioned socially and medically, rising to the occasion to mentor other trans women during the rise of Montreal’s ballroom scene, lent her voice to the Action Santé Travesti(e)s et Transexuel(le)s du Québec (ASTTeQ) and co-created Taking What We Need, a grassroots group getting needed funds into the hands of low-income trans women.
“As I was pushing my gender expression to a more trans feminine place over those years, what grounded me a lot was solidarity work,” says Barbara. “I’ve been spread thin and hustling to pay for studio time, but I always knew that this album was coming.”
The result is something well worth the wait – a cheeky, deliciously strange concoction of alien synths and lyrics....
As I love to say, her music is as effortless as her magic and cool...

The Mighty Pope

1979
The Mighty Pope is regarded as being one of Canada’s first major soul artists. He was born in Lucea Jamaica in 1948, earning his nickname “Pope” from the Vatican-shaped plot of land he grew up on. As a young boy, he sang in church choir and local talent shows on the island. Upon moving to Toronto in 1965, he very quickly became a part of the city’s growing Jamaican community. He earned the prefix “Mighty” from his impressive vocal strength. He gained recognition for his unique musical style, an amalgamation of his ska influences with a modern soul and funk approach, as well as adoration for his fashion sense – his custom-tailored suits, shirts, capes, and fancy footwear, earning him a reputation as a “sex symbol” at the height of his career in the mid-to-late ‘70s. Pope’s recording career was short-lived, and after performing in clubs for a few more years, he decided to focus on family, settling down to become an accountant.
