I feel your pain, Peter, I’ve recently had to set up multiple new PCs and just getting the nags and popups quelled and the unwanted settings adjusted… just tryna get some work done over here, and these AI “assistants” that I never asked for can fuck right off
Oops, that was about the Wengrow. The next song slipped in while I was typing. We apologize for the error.

BenZWPB:
Well my weekly trip to the thrift stores turned up just one record - for two bucks- but it’s a gem. Grand Encounter: East//West on Pacific Jazz 1956 original. John Lewis, Jim Hall, Chico Hamilton, Bill Perkins, Percy Heath. The record is clean as a whistle, the album cover is also in great condition. I played the record and all the musicians are on top form

BenZWPB:
I’ll make it easy. Any additional Immanuel Wilkins in the future will do. He’s at the top of his game. I mentioned I believe last week I have the double album Blues Blood -on Blue Note- and it’s real good. Different female vocalists including Cecile McLorin Salvant. Someone named June McDoom is on it and she kills it

I’m reading an anecdote that says that the spelling of the music’s name was changed from “jass” to “jazz” because jokesters kept cutting the j out of the name on posters and signs.

doing my catch up at work, hard to comment much, busy here.
Dug the Sorey (can't make up my mind about him, have seen him a couple of times, liked his show-he conducted-didn't love him as a sideman, thought he drowned out the rest of the piano trio. I WAS alone in this...). Dug the Sanchez, and the reharmonization of Jamal. Cool last set, thanks DJ Peter!
(have you heard the recently released Live Carla Bley Band Joyful Noise (Live In Hamburg 1984), picked this up from the Downtown Record Gallery, nice to hear new/old Bley...)
♥

DJ Peter:
Hey Doc -- thanks! Always appreciate the retrospective check-ins!
I haven't heard the Bley yet, I have it bookmarked and still hoping to get a DJ copy before I shell out for it. (Gotta save for the new Mosaics, dontcha know)
