ESPN's Adam Schefter reported former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Scotty Miller signed with the Chicago Bears on Saturday.
Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Scotty Miller is staying in the north but switching conferences for the 2026 NFL season.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Saturday the Chicago Bears signed Miller in NFL free agency.
Miller signed with Chicago after trying out for the team at its rookie minicamp. The veteran wide receiver will be entering his eighth season in the league.
Bears are signing free-agent wide receiver Scotty Miller, per Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey.
Miller played the past two years with the Steelers. Over 26 games, he had 14 catches and 131 receiving yards.
During 2025, Miller had nine receptions, which was nearly twice as many as he had for the team in 2024.
But despite more catches, the veteran had fewer yards. He averaged just 6.9 yards per reception last season.
Miller has also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons during his career. He helped the Buccaneers win the Super Bowl with Tom Brady at quarterback during the 2020 campaign.
Scotty Miller Signs Contract With Bears: Report
Before trying out for the Bears, Miller visited the Detroit Lions, according to Schefter, on April 28. He left that visit, though, without a contract.
Those two teams appear to be the only interested parties for Miller this offseason.
The 28-year-old showcased potential as a shifty slot receiver-type that Brady loved throughout his career. In 2020, Miller had 33 catches for 501 yards and three touchdowns. Miller averaged more than 15 yards per catch during each of his first two NFL seasons.
But he’s never repeated that success since then.
In his second season with Brady, Miller had just five receptions for 38 yards in nine games. He then had 185 receiving yards with Brady as his quarterback during 2022.
Miller hasn’t even reached that plateau the past three years.
At this point in his career, Miller is more of a blocker and potential special teams contributor. However, with the Steelers, Miller didn’t have much of a special teams role.
In 26 games, he played 27 special teams snaps with Pittsburgh.
