Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Omar Khan made the team's left tackle plans very clear ahead of NFL free agency.

The Pittsburgh Steelers addressed the wide receiver room in a big way this offseason. Not only did they let notable pass-catchers from a season ago walk, such as Calvin Austin III, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and Adam Thielen, but they made some key additions. GM Omar Khan traded for two-time 1,000-yard receiver Michael Pittman Jr. and made the selection of Alabama wide receiver Germie Bernard in the second round of the NFL Draft.

However, Khan could end up making more moves at that position before the start of the season. According to insider Mark Kaboly, the Steelers could be interested in adding another veteran wide receiver in training camp.

Could the Pittsburgh Steelers Add Keenan Allen or Stefon Diggs?

Here is what Kaboly had to say about the Steelers possibly being interested in a veteran wide receiver down the road:

“Sure, there’s a chance, but it would be more a little bit into camp, and they realized Bernard and Wilson aren’t going to be able to cut it this year. Nothing before that, though.”

This answer was in response to a question being asked to Kaboly about the Steelers possibly being interested in a veteran receiver such as Keenan Allen or Stefon Diggs. There is a noticeable drop-off for the Steelers’ wide receiver room after Pittman Jr. and two-time Pro-Bowler DK Metcalf. Germie Bernard is likely to be slated as the team’s No. 3 wide receiver, which might be an issue given his NFL inexperience.

With veteran Roman Wilson also struggling to get his career off the ground, could this prompt Pittsburgh to want to add a veteran wide receiver in the right situation?

If the Steelers were to add a possible future Hall of Famer in Allen or a former four-time Pro-Bowler in Diggs, their wide receiver room would be all the better for it. A wide receiver room with Pittman, Metcalf, Bernard, and one of those veteran names could be special.

Even though he is still a free agent, quarterback Aaron Rodgers is most likely to end up back with the Steelers if he wants to continue playing. His experience and career portfolio are also hard to replicate. That is why Pittsburgh should be all in on trying to bring him back for his 22nd career NFL season.

After posting a modest passer rating of 94.8 in 2025 with the team, could he be even better with his old Green Bay Packers head coach, Mike McCarthy, now at the helm? Remember, in Rodgers’ 11 seasons as the Packers’ starter under McCarthy (2008-2018), he earned two MVPs and made seven Pro Bowl appearances. The team would go on to make eight consecutive playoff appearances, win five NFC North titles, and bring home a Super Bowl in that stretch.

If the Steelers were to re-sign Rodgers and bring in one more veteran pass-catcher, the rest of the AFC may want to look out.
