Tyreek Hill shared a message after Mike McDaniel was fired

The Kansas City Chiefs made some big moves during the NFL draft to fill holes on defense, but largely ignored their wide receiving corps.

That could change in the coming months, with one NFL analyst naming the Chiefs a top candidate for a reunion with receiver Tyreek Hill. Though Hill faces an uncertain future as he recovers from a season-ending injury, Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports believes he could be on track for a return to Kansas City.

Chiefs Could ‘Roll the Dice’ on Tyreek Hill

Sullivan acknowledged that there are many question marks around Hill after his “gruesome” knee injury, which included a torn ACL. But the Chiefs could take a chance on Hill, who was a centerpiece of the team’s early Super Bowl runs.

“For a receiver who relies so heavily on winning with speed, there’s concern that he may not be nearly as impactful as he once was, now that he’s 32 and coming off this injury,” Sullivan wrote. “If there was one team to roll the dice and see what Hill has left, it could be his old club, the Kansas City Chiefs.”

There is already some mounting buzz about Hill’s potential return to the Chiefs. ESPN insider Nate Taylor said in a radio appearance last week that he believes there’s a coin-flip chance or better that the Chiefs sign him.

“We know that Tyreek is planning to play this upcoming season,” Taylor said. “You’re going to get more updates on his health, given his rehab. We know he’s a diligent worker, so I don’t think that’s the issue. I don’t want to be hyperbolic or over the top, but I think there’s like more than a 50 percent chance that he’s in a Chiefs uniform. I will put it at like 55 percent, maybe even 60.”

Chiefs Quiet at Wide Receiver

Many expected the Chiefs to bolster their wide receiving corps through the NFL draft, but the team invested only a Day 3 pick on the position. As Sullivan noted, the lack of movement to help the wide receiver room could increase the likelihood that the team adds Hill.

“The club made minimal moves at the receiver position this offseason, recently drafting Cincinnati wideout Cyrus Allen in the fifth round, so there is room to bring Hill aboard,” Sullivan wrote. “He already has a built-in rapport with Patrick Mahomes and knows the offense, so Hill could focus more on his rehab rather than immerse himself in also trying to learn a new offense.”
