New photos have been released of New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel dining alone with Dianna Russini

It doesn’t seem the internet — or Page Six — is ready to move on from the scandal involving New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel and former NFL insider Dianna Russini.

The two were photographed together at an adults-only hotel weeks ago during the NFL’s annual league meeting in Arizona, and those photos were then published by Page Six earlier this month.

Vrabel spoke to reporters on Tuesday for the first time since the news broke, seemingly hinting of an inappropriate relationship with Russini.

“I’ve had some difficult conversations with people I care about — with my family, the organization, the coaches, the players,” Vrabel said. “Those have been positive and productive. We believe in order to be successful on and off the field, you have to make good decisions. That includes me. That starts with me.

“We never want our actions to negatively affect the team. We never want to be the cause of a distraction. There are comments and questions that I’ve answered for the team and with the team. We’ll keep those private.”

After Vrabel publicly addressed the Russini situation, it felt like everyone collectively was ready to move on from the situation.

However, Page Six didn’t quite seem to be on board with that plan, and the outlet published new photos on Wednesday of Vrabel and Russini having breakfast together alone at the hotel in Arizona.

“An insider told us that the pair — who are both married to other people — dined together on the morning of March 28, around 10:15 a.m. local time,” Page Six reported. “Multiple eyewitnesses claimed that the two dined alone, which seems to be supported by the pictures we obtained.

“But sources close to Russini insist that the sports reporter and the NFL coach were joined by a group of friends for the morning meal. The insider also told us that the pair appeared to be trying to go incognito by walking to various places in the resort separately throughout the day, following their breakfast.”

According to Page Six’s source, one of Vrabel or Russini entered the breakfast spot while the other waited a handful of seconds before entering after so they wouldn’t be seen together.

While the new photos don’t make the situation seem any worse, they do further extinguish Russini’s claim that she was there on a girls trip and just happened to run into Vrabel.

What’s Happened Since the Photo Leak

The initial photos of Vrabel and Russini together at the resort was published on Apr. 7. Since then, lots of new information has come to light.

ESPN’s Ben Strauss reported that Russini and Vrabel were both informed of the photo leak days before it happened, and the two collaborated on how to handle the situation in the media.

Patriots owner Robert Kraft also reportedly tried to get the New York Post to kill the story before it ever saw the light of day to no avail.

Russini resigned from The Athletic, though the company is still conducting its investigation into her situation with Vrabel. It’s not known if it will make its findings public or if Russini will face any sort of supplemental discipline based on any findings.

The NFL also made it known that it doesn’t plan to investigate Vrabel or the Russini incident, despite one of the league head coaches having an inappropriate relationship with a top insider is the definition of “conduct detrimental to the integrity of and public confidence in the NFL.”
