The New York Giants didn’t have a lot of things going for them in 2025, but their offensive line could certainly be considered one of the bright spots.

Left tackle Andrew Thomas stayed relatively healthy, starting 13 games for the Giants. It was his most games played since the 2022 season.

Jermaine Eluemunor held things down on the right side of the offensive line and even earned himself a nice payday in free agency, re-upping with New York on a three-year, $39 million contract.

The interior had the biggest question marks, but still held up relatively well. John Michael Schmitz still needs to show improvement, but veterans Jon Runyan and Greg Van Roten were solid.

Overall, the Giants’ offensive line played well last season, and they should be even better this year with the addition of No. 10 overall pick Francis Mauigoa.

But it feels like they’ve been disrespected in the most recent rankings for the league’s best offensive lines.

Giants Place 19th in League-Wide Offensive Line Rankings

ESPN’s Mike Clay compiled a list of the NFL’s offensive lines ranked first to worst, and the New York Giants came in with the league’s 19th best.

Each player was given an individual rating compiled by a variety of stats, including Pro Football Focus grades, pass and run block win rates, and pedigree.

To no one’s surprise, Thomas came in tied for the second-highest grade among left tackles with San Francisco 49ers‘ veteran Trent Williams, with a mark of 8.2.

Only the Denver Broncos’ Garrett Bolles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers‘ Tristan Wirfs were higher, tied for first with an 8.7.

Arguably, the biggest snub on the entire list is Eluemunor. Despite being one of New York’s most steady linemen last season, Clay gave him a grade of 4.7.

Despite coming in as Pro Football Focus’s 54th-best tackle in 2025, the former fifth-round pick only gave up four sacks and three quarterback hits. His biggest knock was his penalties, flagged 14 times throughout last year’s campaign.

Runyan was the Giants’ lowest-graded offensive lineman, earning a 4.2 for his efforts last year. Schmitz received a 4.9.

Mauigoa, despite not playing an NFL snap yet, sits at an even 5.0 before his rookie season. We’ll see how the former Miami standout handles the switch to guard.

Giants Offensive Line Better Than 19th Best in the League

The New York Giants should feel a whole lot better about their offensive line heading into 2026 than Clay gives them credit for in his rankings.

According to PFF, New York boasted the ninth-best offensive line in the league last year, and that’s before they added a blue-chip prospect into the mix this offseason.

“The Giants’ offensive line surprised in 2025. Whereas the unit ranked 30th in PFF pass- blocking efficiency rating in 2024, the front placed fourth this year (87.6). After giving up 30 sacks in 2024, New York surrendered just 15 this season,” wrote PFF’s Zoltán Buday.

“This was largely due to the emergence and high-level play of veteran right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor, who gave up pressure on just 3.3% of pass plays-the best rate among all right tackles this season.”

Returning four of five starters should only improve the continuity and chemistry of the Giants’ offensive line, and Mauigoa certainly has some more athletic upside than Van Roten did last year.
