Ahead of Tuesday’s series, the Braves announced that they had signed Sandy León.

León is coming off a season where he appeared in five games for the Braves.

The 37-year-old had been with the Gwinnett Stripers (their Triple-A affiliate) earlier this season.

Mark Bowman of MLB.com wrote:Sean Murphy is headed back to the IL with a fractured left middle finger (catcher’s interference on Sunday). Sandy León is back after recently playing in Mexico. With Kim back there’s more of a need for an OF. So Azocar is up and Jarvis goes to Gwinnett.”

León’s Background

León spent the first three years of his career with the Washington Nationals.

He then played five seasons for the Boston Red Sox, helping lead them to the 2018 World Series Championship.

Following the Red Sox, León had stints with the Cleveland Guardians, Miami Marlins, Minnesota Twins, Texas Rangers (and Braves).

This will be his 14th season in the MLB.

Over 559 career games, León is batting .207 with 323 hits, 32 home runs, 152 RBI’s, 159 runs and one stolen base.
