The Bills could lose assistant general manager Terrance Gray to the Vikings' general manager opening

The Buffalo Bills‘ offseason has largely been defined by change to this point. The team’s coaching staff is virtually unrecognizable, and the roster has been turned over in an effort to help the team find its way back to the Super Bowl. As a result of these moves, there’s a sense of optimism surrounding the Bills as they approach the 2026 campaign.

While the majority of the biggest moves of the offseason have already been made, more changes could be on the way for Buffalo. Across the league, the Minnesota Vikings have begun conducting their search for a new general manager now that the 2026 NFL Draft has wrapped up, and reports indicate that they want to take a closer look at Bills’ assistant general manager Terrance Gray.

Vikings Request to Interview Terrance Gray for General Manager Gig

The Vikings have requested an interview with Bills assistant general manager Terrance Gray for their GM job, per source.

Gray spent 11 seasons with Minnesota as a college scout before joining Buffalo in 2017.

While Sean McDermott was fired as the Bills’ head coach earlier this offseason and replaced with his former offensive coordinator, Joe Brady, general manager Brandon Beane ended up keeping his job. Buffalo faced criticism for its decision to fire McDermott and hold onto Beane, but he’s been acting with a sense of heightened urgency this offseason in an effort to build a championship team around Josh Allen.

Beane’s right-hand man has become Gray, who latched on with the Bills in 2017, which is the same year Beane took over as the team’s general manager. Before he found his way to Buffalo, though, Gray made a name for himself with Minnesota, as he spent 11 years in the organization, working for its scouting department.

Many folks believe that the Vikings will eventually just make interim general manager Rob Brzezinski their full-time general manager, but for the time being, they are conducting a thorough search for this job. Gray has emerged as an early candidate for this gig, should Brzezinski not get promoted, as Minnesota has requested to interview him for its opening.

“The Vikings have requested an interview with Bills assistant general manager Terrance Gray for their GM job, per source. Gray spent 11 seasons with Minnesota as a college scout before joining Buffalo in 2017,” Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported in a post on X.

The Vikings’ handling of their general manager situation has certainly been confusing, but their interest in Gray cannot be ignored. He already has ties to the organization, and while it would seemingly make sense for the team to keep Brzezinski around as their full-time general manager, Gray could land this job if he makes a compelling pitch.

Losing a key member of the front office at this point in the offseason would certainly be a blow for Buffalo, but that’s how the cookie crumbles sometimes in the NFL. Minnesota is still in the early stages of its search for a new general manager, and it looks like the Bills will have to prepare for the possibility of losing Gray to his former team.
