EXCLUSIVE: Last fall, John Mulaney called his shot: He’d become the first comedian to headline Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs. And now, he’s become the first to sell out the 40,000+ seat ballpark.

Mulaney, a proud Chicago native, joins a short list of the world’s most prominent artists who have made its stage their own, which includes the likes of Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen and Pearl Jam.

Mulaney’s Wrigley Field show is part of his John Mulaney: Mister Whatever tour and is set to take place on Saturday, July 11.

In a statement on the sell-out, Mulaney doubled down on a bit from his initial Wrigley Field announcement, telling Deadline: “I’m honored to stand on the same field where I saw Mark Grace rip cigarettes during games, and yell all of my jokes.”

A four-time Emmy, Critics’ Choice and WGA Award-winning writer, comedian and actor, Mulaney has sold out theaters and arenas around the world as part of his current tour. Last year, he won his fourth Emmy as part of the writing team for SNL50: The Anniversary Special, also directing and exec producing Robby Hoffman’s debut Netflix comedy special, Wake Up.

As an actor, Mulaney will next be seen starring alongside Nicolas Cage and Christian Bale in David O. Russell’s Madden, an Amazon MGM title on the Pro Football Hall of Fameer that releases November 26. He is repped by WME and Schreck Rose Dapello.
