EXCLUSIVE: Will Forte (The Four Seasons) and Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip) are set to star alongside Eric André in Synergy Systems, the action-comedy we first reported on in March that is launching sales at Cannes with Cinetic Media and WME Independent.

Marking the feature directorial debut of Toby Harvard, a writer known for titles like The Greasy Strangler who will work from his own script, Synergy Systems is billed as a punk, action-charged, near-future thriller in which terminally indecisive data analyst Bemis (André) uncovers that his employer, Synergy Systems, is a front for an apocalyptic doomsday plot. He’s then forced to do the unthinkable: step up as humanity’s last line of defense. The catch? He’s spineless, spectacularly unqualified, and wildly unprepared to save the world.

Producing via Talon Entertainment (Atonement, Oh Canada), Steven Demmler told us, “When I read Toby Harvard’s wonderfully insane screenplay and imagined Will Forte as ‘Narcissus’ and Tiffany Haddish as ‘RealTalk,’ I laughed so hard I peed. Just a little…a lot of times. That is cinema.”

Additional producers on Synergy Systems include Dane Eckerle and his Bad Grey label (I Love My Dad, Mermaid) and Iconoclast (Sacrifice, Spring Breakers). Talon’s Anthony F. Panza is serving as executive producer.

Next up for Forte is Season 2 of Netflix’s The Four Seasons, premiering May 28, and Nate Bargatze’s TriStar comedy film The Breadwinner, out May 29. Upcoming, he also has Coyote vs. Acme, which three years after getting shelved amid cost-cutting at Warner Bros., has been picked up for release by Ketchup Entertainment on August 28. He is repped by UTA, Rise Management, and Ken Richman and Robby Koch from Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.

Known for roles in films like Girls Trip, which has a sequel in the works, Haddish has most recently been seen in Apple TV+’s The Afterparty and Bad Boys: Ride or Die, among other projects. She is repped by Cade Hudson at Hudson Management, CAA, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.
