THE PROPOSAL

Jerry proposed in Westendorf, Austria, which is a very special place to me. My parents met there many years before in a ski class and the rest is history. Jerry spent a day with my dad figuring out the best place to do it, and after some guidance from the locals, he landed on a low-key restaurant halfway up the mountain. We ordered schnitzel and chips while we sat at the only table in the bar/restaurant with a candle on it (news had travelled up the mountain of the big event), and Jerry, so out of character, asked me to go out and look at the sunset.

Down he went on one knee and I said ‘YES!’. Seconds after, the woman working in the restaurant stuck her head out the front door and shouted, “Your dinner is on the table!” in the most Austrian guttural tone. After that, we went back to Hotel Schermer, where we celebrated with my family. However, news spread and the excitement was picked up by the hotel’s owner (Tyrolean people love to party) and before we knew it rice was being spread on the floor, and a huge conga line was led by the owner through the hotel’s kitchen with every available guest as he banged together two extra-large pot lids – a night never to be forgotten.

THE WEDDING ATTIRE

I wore a two-piece from Rouje that represented me completely and was a nod to having some fun with a day that can feel very ‘traditional’ – I wanted to avoid that. Jerry wore a suit from Massimo Dutti.

Wedding rings were made by Hannah Paris, a jeweller based in Scotland. Her brand is called Juilor. She also made my engagement ring, so it felt right for her to make my wedding band to fit snugly beside it.

THE CEREMONY & RECEPTION

The civil ceremony was low-key, just how we wanted it. Our newborn daughter was there, along with our parents. Afterwards, we all travelled to The Europe Hotel in Fossa for lunch.

THEIR TOP TIPS

Go low-key if the thought of a big wedding stresses you out. You are the architect of your own wedding day – make it what you want. It was such a simple day that suited us. Weddings can sometimes feel out of control for the couple.

THEY WISH THEY HAD

Everything was just how we liked it.

THEIR BEST MOMENTS

Playing Marvin Gaye while we got ready together at home, Ruth’s Caesar salad and chips wedding lunch, Jerry’s first pint of Guinness after they said ‘I do’, getting gorgeous photos taken by their friend Simonne and having lunch with their parents.

THE FIRST DANCE SONG

We had our first dance outside that night under the full moon. The music played softly as we swayed together in the garden, reminiscing about the great times we’ve had together and all the new ones to come – a quiet moment to top off the day.

THE CREW

Bridal bouquet: The bride put together her own bouquet using flowers from Blooms in Killarney. Bride’s outfit: Two-piece from Rouje. Groom’s suit: Massimo Dutti. Bride’s shoes: Mango, sourced from Vinted. Wedding rings: Hannah Paris, Juilor.
