Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that BJP government would be formed in West Bengal on May 4 and warned of strict action against alleged infiltrators, during a campaign address ahead of the state’s elections.

Addressing a public gathering, Sarma alleged that once a new government is formed in West Bengal, "infiltrators” would attempt to resume unlawful activities and try to cross into neighbouring states. He said such elements attempting to enter Assam would be “immediately detained”.

The Chief Minister further claimed that similar action would be taken in other BJP-ruled states, including Odisha and Bihar, to prevent any cross-border movement by such individuals. He asserted that coordinated measures across these states would leave no room for their movement within India.

Sarma also stated that those attempting to infiltrate would eventually be pushed back towards Bangladesh and would not be allowed to re-enter the country.

In his address, he urged people not to fear and called for political change through courage and participation in the democratic process. Referring to India’s freedom movement, he invoked Mahatma Gandhi and Subhas Chandra Bose, stating that societal transformation is possible only when people act without fear.
