Protect Yourself from Scams and Data Breaches with LifeLock
CNET BrandX for LifeLock · 2026-06-13 · via CNET

Protecting yourself against identity theft is becoming more difficult every year. As AI technology improves, scams are multiplying in volume and variety. Roughly 18 million people were targeted in 2025, and no generation is immune. Millennials are the most common victims, but baby boomers tend to lose the most money per incident.

Luckily, there's a simple solution: LifeLock, a premium identity theft protection service. LifeLock monitors the internet for leaks, automatically removes its clients' information from data broker sites and offers robust insurance in case anything goes wrong.

The first line of defense is comprehensive monitoring, since the sooner you know that your personal information has been leaked on the internet, the sooner you can act to protect yourself.

Here's a short list of the things LifeLock's monitoring service will track:

  • Bank and credit card activity
  • Postal address changes
  • Court records
  • Social media activity
  • Dark web mentions of your Social Security number, email address, credit card details or other personal information

And if LifeLock does happen to discover that your data has been compromised on a major people-search or data broker site, it will automatically work to get your sensitive information taken down.

But if your worst fears come to pass, LifeLock doesn't abandon you. Advanced plans include coverage that can reimburse fraud victims for up to $10,000 in damages. In addition, LifeLock also offers the most generous insurance plans available: up to $3 million in total coverage per person, with no limit on the number of annual claims and no out-of-pocket costs for legal and expert help.

Two additional LifeLock features help minimize your stress and add to your peace of mind:

  • Customer support: LifeLock's representatives are available by phone, 24/7. If you get scammed, a specialist will be assigned to your case, following through until every detail is resolved. In addition to their on-call specialists, LifeLock also offers its members access to a Virtual Advisor, capable of helping members spot scams before anything goes seriously wrong.
  • Card Exposure Control: If you shop much online, there's no telling how many websites have your payment information on file. LifeLock's Card Exposure Control feature helps you take back control by scanning your transactions to identify which sites have your credit card numbers. It assigns each one a security risk and makes it fast and easy to remove your information, with pre-filled opt-out requests.

There's never been a better time to enroll. LifeLock has updated its app, making it easier to navigate and personalize the main dashboard. But more importantly, it also offers new flexibility on features and pricing. It has three protection plans available -- LifeLock Core, LifeLock Advanced and LifeLock Total -- with an annual plan, with Core starting at just $10.42 a month, and there are no surprise increases after the first year.

Sign up with LifeLock and defend your identity and financial life today.
