Well now, this certainly rocks the Apple cart.

The latest mobile operating system from Apple, iOS 11, has been a rocketing success, surpassing previous operating system iOS 10.3 in less than a month.

According to web analytics company StatCounter, iOS 11 reached 42pc of all iOS versions worldwide in October, compared to 35.5pc for iOS 10.3.

Apple’s iOS 11 overtook iOS 10.3 on 12 October, just under a month after its release on 19 September.

Implications for digital advertisers

“Even by Apple’s high standards of migrating users, the rapid take-up of iOS 11 has been impressive,” commented Aodhan Cullen, CEO, StatCounter.

He added that the rapid rise of iOS 11 has implications for digital advertisers.

“iOS 11’s feature, called Intelligent Tracking Prevention, makes it harder for advertisers and publishers to track users online.”

In related news, StatCounter has revealed a major revamp of its web analytics site.

The Dublin-based company extracts data from 10bn page views per month across more than 2m websites worldwide.
