Dyson Daniels of the Atlanta Hawks reacts during Game 6 after being ejected in a heated altercation as Atlanta suffered a historic blowout loss to the New York Knicks.

The Atlanta Hawks saw their season spiral in stunning fashion Thursday night, as a Game 6 elimination scenario turned into both a historic blowout and a chaotic flashpoint.

Dyson Daniels was ejected during a heated altercation with backup center Mitchell Robinson of the New York Knicks — a moment that encapsulated a night that quickly unraveled for Atlanta.

Dyson Daniels Ejection Highlights Hawks’ Frustrating Night

The incident occurred during an already lopsided stretch, with the Hawks trailing 72-22 when Daniels and Robinson became entangled while battling for rebounding position at the free-throw line.

What began as routine contact escalated rapidly.

Replays showed Daniels making contact high on Robinson before Robinson responded with an elbow. Players from both teams rushed into the scrum as tensions boiled over.

After review, officials ejected both Daniels and Robinson.

For Atlanta, the loss of Daniels removed one of its key perimeter defenders in the middle of an already difficult game.

Chaos Spills Over as Knicks Coach Knocked Down

As the altercation intensified, Knicks head coach Mike Brown attempted to step in and calm the situation.

Instead, he was knocked to the floor and briefly dragged amid the surge of players.

The chaotic scene only added to the sense of disorder surrounding the game.

Historic Halftime Deficit Underscores Hawks’ Struggles

Following the ejections, the game continued to tilt further out of reach.

The Knicks extended their lead to 83-36 at halftime — the largest halftime deficit in NBA playoff history.

For Atlanta, the margin reflected a night where little went right on either end of the floor.

Elimination Game Slips Away for Atlanta

The magnitude of the deficit made the path back nearly impossible.

In a win-or-go-home scenario, the Hawks were unable to generate consistent offense or contain New York’s attack, allowing the game to get out of hand early.

Barring a comeback of biblical proportions, the focus quickly shifted from survival to what went wrong.

Daniels’ Ejection Adds to Hawks’ Challenges

Daniels’ absence further complicated matters.

Though the game was already slipping away, his defensive versatility and ability to guard multiple positions had been a key part of Atlanta’s rotation throughout the series.

His ejection removed another piece from an already struggling lineup.

Incident Could Carry Beyond Game 6

The NBA is expected to review the altercation and could issue fines or additional discipline.

While suspensions are possible, recent precedent — including an incident involving Nikola Jokić and Julius Randle — resulted in fines without suspensions.

Still, the review adds another layer to an already difficult night for Atlanta.

Hawks Face Uncertain Offseason After Collapse

With their season on the brink, the Hawks are left searching for answers.

A loss would mark a disappointing end to a series that began with promise but ultimately unraveled under pressure.

And on a night defined by both chaos and history, Atlanta found itself on the wrong side of both.
