The Chicago Bulls released official statement on why they abruptly waived former No. 5 pick Jaden Ivey.

Former NBA star Jaden Ivey has seemingly reconciled with his wife.

The former Chicago Bulls and Detroit Pistons guard shared a picture of himself and his wife on Instagram on Monday, along with the following message:

“Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, And obtaineth favour of the LORD.”

“Thank you Jesus for saving us. Thank you for your mercy and goodness towards us.”

Ivey had earlier revealed that his wife and his family cut ties with him after he was waived by the Bulls for “conduct detrimental to the team.”

Jaden Ivey Reconciles With Wife

In early April, Ivey, via an emotional IG Live post, revealed that his wife, Caitlyn, the mother of his three children, had stopped relying to his text messages.

“Those who are my family members [are] betraying me because of what I spoke,” Ivey said. “The truth. Betraying me. Saying that I’m losing my mind.

“…Saying that I’m crazy, that I don’t know the truth. These are my own family members who love me—my blood. Those who raised me said that I don’t know the truth. ‘Man, he’s psycho.’ He’s this, he’s that. Those are my own household.

“All because of the gospel. All because I said the truth.”

Ivey’s mother, Notre Dame women’s basketball coach Niele Ivey, has yet to make any public remarks about her son being waived by the Bulls.

Jaden Ivey Controversy

Ivey, the No. 5 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, was waived by the Bulls last month after he made anti-LGBTQ remarks and bizarrely attacked NBA stars on his IG feed.

Ivey questioned Stephen Curry’s commitment to Christianity and even took shots at Michael Jordan, LeBron James and NBA Commissioner Adam Silver.

“That’s why you got Steph Curry, who’s not even surrendered, and y’all think he’s a Christian,” Ivey said on IG Live.

“Y’all believe he’s a Christian because he wrote Philippians 4:13. Y’all think he’s a Christian. He cursing just like the world.”

Ivey was once viewed as a blossoming star in the NBA before injuries and controversies seemingly derailed his rise. After breaking his fibula in January 2025, he missed the rest of the 2024-25 season and sat out the first 15 games of the 2025-26 season while undergoing a “reconditioning” process to return to the court. Upon returning from injury, he struggled to reclaim his starting role, averaging just 16.8 minutes over 33 games for J.B. Bickerstaff’s team before being traded to Chicago.

The Bulls shut down Ivey after he played just five games for them.
