Kate Middleton Makes Rare Appearance With Royal Family at Festival of Remembrance

The son of Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit from a relationship prior to her marriage to Crown Prince Haakon was sentenced to four years in prison after being convicted of rape June 14, according to The Associated Press.
Høiby was found guilty of two of the four rape charges he was facing and acquitted of the other two, per the outlet. He was also convicted of assault and abuse in a close relationship.
In addition to the four-year prison sentence, the young royal was also ordered to pay compensation to the victims.
E! News has reached out to Høiby’s legal team for comment but hasn't heard back.
Defense lawyer Petar Sekulic noted that Høiby is “satisfied” in an email to Swedish news agency TT, according to the AP, but will appeal the parts of the verdict concerning the two rapes and the abuse in a close relationship. His lawyers will also seek Høiby’s temporary release.
The 29-year-old was charged with sexually assaulting four women, according to the outlet, who were asleep or otherwise unable to resist between 2018 and 2024.
Though he faced a total of 40 criminal charges—including violations of a restraining order and drug-related crimes—he pleaded not guilty to the rape allegations.
Høiby did, however, plead guilty to multiple other charges, according to The New York Times, including assault and harassment and malicious damage to property, per Norwegian news outlet NRK.

Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit from a relationship prior to her marriage to Crown Prince Haakon, has been arrested on suspicion of rape.
The 27-year-old was taken into custody on Nov. 18 in Oslo, Norway, and is currently in detention in Greenway, according to a release shared by the Oslo Police District, which stated Marius was arrested for an alleged incident that occurred on Nov. 6 involving “sexual intercourse with someone who is unconscious or for other reasons is unable to resist the act.”
Expanding upon this charge, police noted that in this case the alleged rape “concerns sexual intercourse without intercourse. The victim is said to have been unable to resist the act.”
In the statement, police also said that the incident involved “maltreatment in close relationships." They also conducted a search and seizure of his Skaugum residence at the time of his arrest.
Police concluded, noting, “As of now, it has not been decided whether he will be presented for imprisonment.”
E! News has reached out for comment from the royal family and has not heard back yet.

This is not the first time Marius—who is not in the line of succession to Norway’s throne and does not have a public-facing role in the royal family—has been involved in legal proceedings. He was also arrested in August, leading his mother to postpone her 2024 Paris Olympics appearance.
At the time, he was arrested for an incident involving a woman in her 20s, according to Norwegian outlet Se og Hør (per People). The woman was treated for a concussion at the hospital after Marius allegedly "attacked her psychologically and physically.”
Police told the Norwegian outlet that Marius was arrested and accused of inflicting "bodily harm" to the woman with whom he was in a relationship with at the time, per The Guardian.
And in September, Marius was arrested again for allegedly violating his restraining order, police said per The Guardian.
Police shared in their statement on Nov. 18 that Marius was in the car with the alleged victim of the August incident at the time of his arrest.

Kate Middleton Completes Chemotherapy
On Sept. 9, the Princess of Wales shared that she had completed chemotherapy after being diagnose with an unspecified form of cancer earlier this year.
"The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you," she said in a video statement. "With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything."

Kate Middleton Shares Chemotherapy Update
Nearly three months after sharing her cancer diagnosis, the Princess of Wales said that she's "making good progress" with chemotherapy, though there are "good days and bad days" amid her health journey.
"On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting," Kate wrote on Instagram June 14. "But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well."
She added, "My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months. On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home."
