James Van Der Beek's Ex Heather McComb Marries Scott Michael Campbell
Heather McComb didn't have to wait for this support.
One week after the Party of Five alum tied the knot with Scott Michael Campbell, she detailed her last interaction with ex-husband James Van Der Beek and his wife Kimberly Van Der Beek before his death in February.
"I will share one thing [about our last encounter] because I think it's beautiful," McComb—who was married to the Dawson's Creek alum from 2003 to 2009—told Us Weekly. "James and Kimberly both knew that Scott and I were getting married and they both were so full of love and support and excitement."
The 49-year-old emphasized how grateful she and Campbell were to have Van Der Beek—dad to six with Kimberly, whom he married in 2010—cheering them on in their next chapter.
"Just to have his blessing on this marriage was something that I will always hold on my heart," she told the outlet. "I think that when I look back, that is really what I hold in my heart—is just how he loved was a beautiful thing."
As the No One Would Tell actress and Campbell wed in an intimate ceremony after more than three years together, she said it felt like Van Der Beek was watching over them.
"I know we had a lot of people up in heaven shining on us that day," she shared. "It was magical in the sense that we saw a double rainbow, two ladybugs and two white doves."
And McComb shared why it felt spiritually significant for both her and Campbell.
"We honor everybody who wasn't there that day," she added. "I know that James would want me to celebrate our love, just like he celebrated the love that he had for Kimberly, which was so beautiful."

McComb and the Shameless actor were married by her sister, surrounded by their closest loved ones in Missoula, Montana.
"Our hearts are full and humbled by all of the love that we were surrounded by," she wrote on Instagram last month. "Thank you to all of our family and friends who traveled from all over the country to be with us. You all made it so special and a truly magical weekend that we will never forget."

James' ex-wife, to whom he was married from 2003 to 2009, penned a loving tribute in his memory.
"James was a beautiful soul filled with so much light, love, talent, humor, depth, sensitivity, knowledge and a deep love of God that shined through him," she wrote on Instagram. "He shined so bright yet was so humble and human. Always searching, always growing, always going deeper, always chasing things outside his comfort zone."
She continued, "I know that James loved being a father so much and oh how he loved Kimberly with his everything. True soulmates. How she showed up for him with such grace is so beautiful and something I will forever admire."
