Rachel Sennott Chases Down Fashion’s Hottest Invite

Can a million views snag a Gen Z It girl and Hollywood darling an invite to the Met Gala? Rachel Sennott seems to think so, or it’s a question she at least poses in her scripted micro-drama for Marc Jacobs, titled The Scene. Filmed with the fever of a hot summer day turned into a drunken city night, the first episode of the pre-fall campaign series opens with Sennott chasing fashion’s golden ticket.

After all, it’s a “big year” for Sennott, as she notes, hot off of the success of I Love LA. With no invite in hand—despite sending “the good champagne and the gift card”—she sets out to do what any Twitter-born comic would do: go viral. “This campaign is about all the chaotic, ridiculous, and funny moments that make you feel seen or completely invisible,” Rachel Sennott tells Vogue. “I wanted to capture that energy through storytelling that feels true to how we live now.”

Her frenzied quest ticks off most of the downtown bingo card—hunting for Kareem Rahma of Subway Takes at the East Broadway subway station; struggling with the Citi Bike dock in Dimes Square; paying for her own pap walk and bumping into Francesca Scorsese; and mistakenly asking Anna, the hostess from Lucien calling to confirm her reservation, if she has finally gotten her ticket. Taking a selfie with Sandra Bernhard while conspiring with True Whitaker and Morgan Maher at a back table is only an added bonus.

Was her Manhattan odyssey enough to seal the deal? We’ll see come May 4.
