Vengeance is one hell of a drug in Is God Is, the new thriller movie about twin sisters who seek revenge on their abusive father, which opens in movie theaters this weekend.

Written and directed by Aleshea Harris in her feature film debut, Is God Is is a movie adaptation of Harris’s 2018 play of the same name, which received three Obie awards for it’s one-month, off-Broadway run. The plot follows two twin sisters (played by Kara Young and Mallori Johnson in the movie) who were severely burned as babies in a fire. While on her deathbed, the twin’s mother informs them their abusive father is to blame for the fire, and orders them to exact revenge on him, as her dying wish. Will the girls do as they mother says, and make their father pay? Or will they exercise grace and forgiveness?

Also starring Janelle Monáe, Vivica A. Fox, and Sterling K. Brown, Is God Is was critically acclaimed as a play, and we’re sure it will be a hit with critics as a film, too. Most movies play best on the big screen, but if you’d rather wait to watch this one at home, then read on to find out when and where we expect to see the Is God Is movie available to watch on streaming.

Where to watch the Is God Is movie:

For now, Is God Is will only available to watch in a movie theater, when it opens in the U.S. on Friday, May 15. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. Is God Is is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.

Is the Is God Is movie streaming on Netflix?

Is God Is is not streaming on Netflix and likely will not be on Netflix any time soon, due to the fact that the film is not a Netflix movie. Is God Is is an Amazon MGM movie, and therefore will likely go to streaming on Amazon’s Prime Video.

You will be able to purchase Is God Is on Amazon Prime Video when the movie becomes available to buy and rent on digital, likely in about a month. You will also likely able to watch Is God Is streaming on Prime Video, free with a Prime subscription, around the same time.

Another Amazon MGM movie, Mercy, was released on digital platforms about one month after opening in theaters, and will be streaming on Amazon Prime next week, about two months after the movie opened in theaters. If Is God Is follows a similar release strategy, you might see Is God Is on digital around mid-June 2026, and streaming free on Prime Video around mid-July 2026.
