Pete Crow-Armstrong took on a very different tone on Monday.

A day after getting into a vulgar exchange with a fan — telling her “You suck my f–king d–k bitch” — during a 9-8 loss to the White Sox, the Cubs star acknowledged he took things a bit too far.

“I just regret my choice of words the most, and who that affects in my life directly and indirectly,” Crow-Armstrong told reporters on Monday. “I don’t think that any of the women in my life would ever think that I would use those kinda of words regularly, especially referring to them. So I’m just bummed out by the word choice and that a bunch of little kids go and probably find their way to social media and see that as well.

“I am intense on the field and at a moment like that, I think I just let it get away from me a little bit. But again, poor word choice.”

The scene unfolded in the outfield at Rate Field when the All-Star center fielder couldn’t catch a long drive at the wall.

A woman along the outfield fence let him have it.

“You suck,” she told him, flashing a thumbs-down in what was apparently a pre-planned heckle during her engagement party.

Crow-Armstrong, a former Mets draftee and top prospect, then fired off his crude retort.

“Some lady decided to start talking s–t and I felt the need to say it back,” Crow-Armstrong said after the game.

The response drew plenty of attention from the woman’s party.

“I said he sucked, and then he said words that I don’t want to repeat, you shouldn’t say to a woman,” she told the Chicago Sun Times. “And then both my brothers were up there against the fence, too.’’

Her defenders included her fiancé, clad in a blue Cubs jersey.

“He tried to calm me,’’ she said, “but then he heard what PCA said to me, so he started booing him, too.’’

There is no official word on MLB getting involved in the fallout from the obscene interaction, with Crow-Armstrong set to patrol center field and bat eighth for Monday night’s clash with the Brewers at Wrigley Field.
