The Boys series finale is finally here.
The hit Prime Video series is coming to a close after six long years of watching Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), Hughie (Jack Quaid) and the Boys attempt to take down Homelander (Antony Starr) to seemingly no avail. And Season 5 has only seen the Supe go to unreasonable lengths to amass even more power after taking over Vought and the White House.
The Boys Season 5, Episode 7 shows Homelander riding high off his newfound immortality after Soldier Boy gave him the V-One. His power knows no limits, and his first order of business is to dictate a slew of executive orders to President Calhoun and Vice President Barrett (Colby Minife) that he wants passed, effective immediately: No more separation between church and state, baby formula has been outlawed, Congress disbanded, and breastfeeding is now mandatory for newborns. Oh, and nut milk has been outlawed.
But when Homelander gets even a whiff of disbelieve (or dishonor) from President Calhoun, he kills him and takes him right out of the equation, making VP Barrett the new POTUS. The message is clear: No one is standing in Homelander’s way when he’s this close to becoming a messiah.
This dramatic episode perfectly tees up The Boys Season 5, Episode 8. Prime Video released a sneak peek in The Boys Season 5, Episode 8 trailer that shows Butcher is still on his crusade against Supes.
“We need to end the whole bloody notion of Supes,” he says. “Superheroes are done.”
The stars of The Boys have also promised the series finale will be a fitting, if shocking, end to the story. Erin Moriarty warned fans should “mentally prepare” themselves for what’s to come.
Nathan Mitchell, who plays Black Noir, also told DECIDER during a recent chat, “There’s so much I could tease. I think that everything comes to a head in a really fitting way. Things that have been building since Season 1, and we see some payoff for in the finale. I think the story ends in the right way.”
