Former Giants draft pick Sam Beal remains missing nearly one year after his family last heard from him in the Virginia Beach area.

His sister, Essence Zhane, updated her Facebook status Friday night with the police’s missing persons report on Beal, who played in nine games with three starts for the Giants from 2018-21.

Beal, 29, was last seen on July 12, 2025 by his girlfriend after dropping her off at a family member’s house and borrowing the car, per the police.

He spoke to her for the final time the next day and said he was about to head home from Virginia Beach.

The car was recovered in Virginia Beach and contained Beal’s shoes and socks and some sand on the floor of the passenger side seat, according to police.

Beal is said to have had nothing with him besides the clothes on his back, a pair of slides and a wallet containing his banking card and driver’s license.

Zhane has made repeated pleas for information on her Facebook page.

“We’ve done everything we could on our end to piece things together and at this point we’re in desperate need of support on all ends,” she wrote in January.

“I’m not here to answer a bunch of why’s and how’s I just need this to land in the right direction to gain some form of answers or closure. I’m a Big sister and I need my brother to know that We Love You and miss you and this has been a heavy feeling for months to carry around.”

Anyone with any information is asked to reach out to the Virginia Beach police department or its detectives bureau for missing persons cases.

Beal was originally picked in the third round of the 2018 Supplemental Draft.

He missed his rookie season due to a shoulder injury and then opted out of the 2020 season under COVID-19 protocols.

Beal pled guilty in June 2021 – a few months before he was released – to two gun-related charges and possession of marijuana in less than bulk and was placed on two years probation.
