The awkward saga between the Celtics and Jaylen Brown lingers on after the team decided against trading their star forward for Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Brown remains a Celtic as of Thursday afternoon, but his days in Boston might be numbered.
Milwaukee was the favorite to land Brown before the trade, but users on Kalshi don’t seem to be confident that Brown will leave Boston.
They give Brown just a 30 percent chance to remain with the Celtics — but a growing number of users see two teams emerging as potential suitors.
The Hornets, who just stunned the league with a trade that sent LaMelo Ball to the Timberwolves for Naz Reid, have seen their chances to trade for Brown jump from 3 percent to as high as 13 percent.
The Cavaliers’ chances to land Brown are 11 percent as of Thursday and were as high as 20 percent earlier this week.
ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that the Celtics are still “actively engaged in trade talks” with teams that are interested in acquiring Brown.
The news comes on the heels of a tepid response this week to the trade rumors from Celtics general manager Brad Stevens.
“I’m never going to predict the future, but every indication, everything I think about, over the last few years, has been building around those guys,” Stevens told reporters Tuesday night after the first round of the NBA Draft.
Prediction markets shifted in the days since the Antetokounmpo trade sent the two-time MVP to South Beach in a hefty package of players and picks instead of to Boston for Brown.

The controversy surrounding Brown goes back to May after the Celtics were eliminated in a Game 7 against the 76ers during the first round of the NBA playoffs.
Brown said on his personal Twitch stream that this season was his favorite in his basketball career, which prompted speculation that he was happy playing without Jayson Tatum, who missed most of the season while recovering from an Achilles injury.
Whether the reports are real or not, the Celtics will have this cloud hanging over their heads until one side or both gives a more definitive answer on the vision for the future.
