Burger King is letting customers have it their way.
After 15 long years, the beloved fast-food chain is answering customers’ prayers by bringing back a fan-favorite menu item — the crown nuggets.
Beginning Tuesday, the on-theme bites will be offered on both the kids’ and regular menus.
For kiddos, the crispy fried goodness will come with a side of fries, apple juice, a 4-pack of Crayola crayons, a crown to color and a meal bag — while supplies last — thanks to the chain’s recent partnership with Crayola.
Adults who want to join in on the nugget fun can order either a $3.99 King Jr meal, beginning June 9, while supplies last, which includes a side and drink, or just the 8-piece nuggets.
Once this menu addition was announced, some BK customers couldn’t help but share their excitement online, while others bashed the nuggets, claiming Burger King isn’t following the same formula they did 15 years ago.
“I miss them so much,” one wrote.
“… it’s legit the current nugget formula in crown form. These are NOT the OG crown nuggets from 15 years ago,” one disappointed customer quipped.
“These were the best back in 2005, but I’m afraid now they’ll be the same shitty BK nuggies we currently have, just in the nostalgic shape,” another chimed in, agreeing.
“As long as they taste like the original, I’m elated,” read a comment.
“We are so back,” chimed in someone else.
And while one Reddit user had low expectations for the crown nuggets, “Won’t taste the same probably,” another shot down the criticism, remaining hopeful, “I bet they’ll taste better.”
Regardless of whether the nuggets are just as good as they were in 2011, it’s safe to say 2026 has been a big year of change for BK.
Several months back, the chain made changes to its Whopper for the first time in a decade.
After listening to customer complaints, in February, Burger King announced its new burger would include a “more premium, better tasting bun” and a box for the sandwich to be served in.
“Over the past several years, we’ve focused on strengthening our operations and modernizing our restaurants to build a more consistent foundation across the system,” Burger King US and Canada President Tom Curtis said in a statement.
Acknowledging that the Whopper is a menu staple for the fast-food chain, Curtis pointed out that the brand didn’t “set out to reinvent it” but instead “elevated it based on direct Guest feedback.”
But it wasn’t great timing for Burger King, as the chain’s major competitor, McDonald’s, debuted a new Big Arch burger right around the same time, leaving fast-food fans torn.
