WordPress VIP Earns Secure Hosting Alliance Certification
Jake Ludington · 2026-05-28 · via The Leading Enterprise Content Platform | WordPress VIP

WordPress VIP is officially certified by the Secure Hosting Alliance, which is an initiative of the Internet Infrastructure Coalition. The SHA Trust Seal represents a verified ongoing commitment on the part of WordPress VIP to security, lawful compliance, and service reliability.

This commitment aligns with WordPress VIP’s values and commitments to high security standards, rapid response to detected abuse, and the maintenance of highly performant infrastructure that meets the demands of enterprise customers.

Why SHA certification matters

For organizations evaluating hosting options, SHA certification cuts through the noise. It’s an independent benchmark for providers that take security and operational rigor seriously, not just competitive pricing.

For WordPress VIP customers, the SHA Trust Seal represents:

  • Third-party validation that the WordPress VIP platform meets established reliability and security benchmarks.
  • Verification of infrastructure integrity through independent practice reviews.
  • A trusted signal that WordPress VIP is committed to privacy and ethical data handling.

What goes into certification

Hosting providers are judged across key areas during the Secure Hosting Alliance evaluation process. These include:

  • Implementation of clear policies addressing infrastructure misuse.
  • Active engagement in anti-abuse and security initiatives.
  • Continuous monitoring of emerging threats and evolving industry trends.
  • Proven commitment to privacy, transparency, and operational excellence.

An Industry-wide effort

WordPress VIP is part of an initial cohort of certified hosting providers who are focused on building a secure web ecosystem. This group of companies has a shared commitment to creating a more secure and trustworthy web ecosystem.

Automattic, the WordPress VIP parent company, supports the Secure Hosting Alliance to improve global internet health by strengthening collaboration among hosting providers, security researchers, and policy groups.

Looking ahead with the SHA Trust Seal

WordPress VIP customers will start seeing the SHA Trust Seal throughout the website. The seal reaffirms existing customer expectations regarding enterprise performance, enterprise-grade security, and enterprise-scale architecture.

“Our customers rely on us to operate with a high bar for security, reliability, and accountability every day. Standards like SOC 2, FedRAMP, and SHA make that operational rigor independently verifiable, which matters for teams making long-term platform decisions — and gives them more confidence in the infrastructure they’re building on.”
