Forrester joins the conversation

Alongside these major public institutions, Forrester analyst Dario Maisto will present his latest research on digital sovereignty. His session will look at the balance between sovereignty, privacy, and security, before examining the gap between organisations' sovereignty ambitions and where they actually stand today. He'll walk through the practical challenges governments face in reducing dependency, and the role open standards can play in supporting sovereign communications.

Dario recently authored a report introducing a Minimum Viable Sovereignty (MVS) decision framework, alongside looking at where open source helps organisations achieve sovereignty, and where its limits lie - across project longevity, maintainer dependency, and support.

It's a framework that reflects our own approach; enabling governments to make deliberate choices about ownership, deployment, data control, and interoperability. Open standards and open federation are central to that as they let organisations build sovereign communications without being reliant on a single vendor.
