UFC BMF champion Charles Oliveira has teased the UFC’s return to his native Brazil this fall, suggesting an event taking place in São Paulo.

The UFC has not visited Brazil thus far in 2026, and there is no event scheduled for the country at this point. However, Oliveira believes the promotion is returning to Brazil this fall, which would be the first event on the legend’s native soil since last October. That event took place in Rio de Janeiro, with Oliveira submitting Mateusz Gamrot in the main event.

Charles Oliveira Teases UFC Brazil Card

Speaking on the UFC on Paramount+ broadcast during UFC 328, Oliveira said he has heard that the UFC is planning on making a return to Brazil this year. If that’s the case, then he told the UFC to call him because he would be willing to headline the UFC Brazil card for the second straight year.

“When I talk about resting, I don’t even know, I’ve just been hopping from one place to another since the title (BMF). I believe they might call me out of nowhere, but in August, September, October. I heard there’s going to be (a UFC event) in São Paulo in October, I don’t know if it’s true, I overheard, but who knows, if they need me to fill the house again, they can call me,” Oliveira said (via AG Fight).

The last UFC Brazil event to take place in Sao Paulo came in November 2023, in a card headlined by heavyweights Jailton Almeida and Derrick Lewis. The UFC has been to Sao Paulo nine times during the company’s history, and they have been to Brazil 41 times in total. The organization used to go to Brazil multiple times a year, but in recent years, they have basically made it a once-a-year trip.

What’s Next for Charles Oliveira?

In his last fight at UFC 326 in March, Oliveira defeated Max Holloway via unanimous decision to capture the promotion’s BMF title. The fight was harshly criticized by fans, as Oliveira took Holloway down at will and dominated him on the ground for a wide decision win. While typically that would be an impressive way to win, the problem was that, since it was a fight for the BMF title, fans were expecting a stand-up war. That was not the case, so fans were disappointed in what they saw.

For his next fight, it will be interesting to see if Oliveira defends the BMF title or if the promotion decides to retire it after the last fight did not play out the way most of the BMF title fights have. Either way, Oliveira is absolutely one of the top lightweights in the sport, and he is due for a huge fight his next time out.

Taking a look at the UFC lightweight division, Oliveira is the No. 3-ranked contender in the weight class. At UFC 329 in July, No. 5-ranked Benoit Saint Denis battles No. 6-ranked Paddy Pimblett, and Oliveira could potentially fight the winner of that bout. Conor McGregor, who is rumored to fight Max Holloway on that same card, is also a potential opponent should he beat Holloway. Then there’s Arman Tsarukyan, who does not currently have a fight booked, though he’s slated to be the backup for the upcoming lightweight title unification bout at UFC Freedom 250 between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje, two other former Oliveira opponents.
