Tarik Skubal and Paul Skenes are arguably the best two pitchers in Major League Baseball, but they'll take part in some strange history this week.
The Detroit Tigers are set to play the Boston Red Sox on Monday evening. The Tigers will be looking to stay hot after winning each of their last two games.
Tarik Skubal was expected to start for the Tigers against the Red Sox, but things have changed on that front.
As first reported by The New York Post’s Jon Heyman, Skubal has been scratched from his start against the Red Sox. Shortly after, an update on Skubal was provided by Tigers manager A.J. Hinch, and it is certainly a bad one.
As reported by MLive.com’s Evan Woodbery, Hinch shared that Skubal will be having surgery for loose bodies in his elbow. In addition, Skubal will be placed on the injured list.
