It won’t be long now before the official 2026 schedule for the Detroit Lions makes waves across the Motor City, but there have been small portions of that schedule that have been leaked.

One notable date that Lions fans are now preparing for includes their Week 10 matchup that will be held overseas in Germany, marking the first time since 2015 against the Kansas City Chiefs that the Lions play on foreign soil.

And now, it looks as though the eyes of the NFL world will be upon the Lions as they get the chance to help break in the League’s newest venue.

The Detroit Lions Will Allegedly Play The Buffalo Bills In Week 2 In The First Game At The New Venue

The Buffalo Bills have been constructing a brand new venue to replace their now-former home, which they’d played in since 1973.

New Highmark Stadium will have a seating capacity of over 63,000 fans, and will be the latest high-technology NFL venue that has every possible amenity that fans and players could think of.

And based on the latest NFL Schedule release, it looks as though the Detroit Lions could make history by being the very first opponent that the Bills host in their new home.

Per OzzyNFL on X, formerly known as Twitter, the Lions will face the Bills at New Highmark Stadium in Week 2 of the upcoming 2026 NFL season in front of a nationally televised audience on Thursday Night Football.

The Lions are going to be out for redemption following a disappointing 9-8 campaign in 2025 that saw them not only miss the playoffs for the first time since 2023, but also saw their two-year reign atop the NFL North Division come to an end.

Meanwhile, the Bills are going to want to make an immediate impact in their new home, especially after suffering another divisional round exit and AFC East title loss.

The Bills Will Open The NFL’s Newest Venue

The Bills, who have played at Highmark Stadium since 1973, are getting the NFL’s newest home directly across from where their former stomping grounds currently stand before being demolished.

The $2.1 billion venue will feature a massive canopy roof covering most seats, heated concourses, snow-melting technology, expanded 360-degree concourses, enhanced 5G connectivity, giant high-definition videoboards, frictionless concessions, premium suites, and a natural grass playing surface.

While the open-air design preserves Buffalo’s cold-weather football identity, it will also help reduce the impact of wind and snow for fans. Additionally, there won’t be any further need for fans to spend cold winter days helping to shovel the stadium, as was a tradition for years at their former home.

Additionally, the stadium will include seven sensory rooms, climate-controlled team areas, and acoustics specifically engineered to amplify crowd noise, creating one of the loudest environments in the NFL. Bills fans are already known as some of the most rowdy in professional sports, and this will only add to the mystique.

Needless to say, it has every possible amenity that both fans and players could ever hope for, and it will likely earn the reputation of being the best venue in all the NFL.
