The latest Toronto Maple Leafs injury update signals that three players will not return to the lineup for the remainder of the season.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are entering the offseason with a plethora of questions surrounding them. After finishing the season at the bottom of the Atlantic Division standings with a 32-36-14 record and 78 points, Toronto should be making changes to their roster this summer.

One of the Maple Leafs’ top trade candidates to watch during the offseason is goaltender Anthony Stolarz. With the Maple Leafs having Joseph Woll and two promising goalie prospects in Dennis Hildeby and Artur Akhtyamov, it is fair to wonder if Stolarz could be made expendable for the right price.

If the Maple Leafs shop Stolarz, it is likely that he would generate a lot of interest around the league. He is coming off a bit of a down season, as he had a 10-10-3 record, a 3.28 goals-against average, and an .893 save percentage. Yet, when noting that he had the best save percentage in the NHL in 2023-24 (.925) and 2024-25 (.926), teams looking for a good 1B goalie should be in the mix for the 32-year-old.

Because of this, let’s take a look at three teams that could target Stolarz this offseason if the Maple Leafs make him available for trade.

Oilers Continue to Need Help Between the Pipes

When looking at potential trade destinations for Stolarz, the Edmonton Oilers stand out. While they brought in Tristan Jarry from the Pittsburgh Penguins this season, he has struggled since his arrival in Edmonton. Meanwhile, Connor Ingram has had some solid moments, but the pending UFA lost Edmonton’s crease during the playoffs.

With this, it would make sense for the Oilers to bring in Stolarz. He would be a decent upgrade over Ingram and could form a nice tandem with Jarry if they both bounce back next season. Stolarz is also a goalie the Oilers already know, too, as he spent the final portion of the 2018-19 season with them.

Panthers Could Need A New Goalie if Sergei Bobrovsky Leaves

If Sergei Bobrovsky ends up leaving the Panthers in free agency, it would not be surprising in the slightest if Florida targeted Stolarz. This is especially so when noting that Stolarz was excellent for them during the 2023-24 season. In 27 games that season for the Panthers, he had a 16-7-2 record, a .925 save percentage, a 2.03 goals-against average, and two shutouts.

Yet, even if Bobrovsky ends up staying put, the possibility of the Panthers targeting Stolarz still should not be ruled out. As noted above, he worked incredibly well in a tandem with Bobrovsky before.

Senators Should Be on The Hunt for Goalie Help This Summer

While Linus Ullmark had a strong finish to the season with the Senators, Ottawa should still be looking to add another goalie next summer. James Reimer and Leevi Merilainen both struggled as the Senators’ backups this season, so it would make sense if the Senators brought in Stolarz as an upgrade.

If the Senators acquired Stolarz, he would form a strong one-two punch with Ullmark between the pipes. This would benefit a Senators team that will be looking to have better results next season, but especially during the playoffs.
