The Buffalo Bills are still looking to add more pass-rush help to the defense.

Buffalo selected T.J. Parker in the second round out of Clemson, which was the Bills’ first pick of the draft, to bolster the pass rush. However, on Thursday, it was revealed that the Bills are hosting former Kansas City Chiefs pass rusher Mike Danna on a visit.

Danna spent six seasons with the Chiefs, registering 21.5 sacks and 194 tackles.

“Free agent DE Mike Danna recently visited the Buffalo Bills, per sources. Danna spent six seasons with the Chiefs, registering 21.5 sacks and 194 tackles,” ESPN NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler reported on X.

Danna was selected in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft by Kansas City out of Michigan. He began his career as a rotational player, but has served as a starter on the Chiefs’ defensive line for the past three seasons.

Danna won back-to-back Super Bowls with the Chiefs in 2022 and 2023, and started every playoff game in the second year of the back-to-back. His best season came in 2023 when he recorded 50 tackles and 6.5 sacks.

Last season with the Chiefs, he played in 15 games, started 14, recording 15 tackles, 1 sack, and 3 tackles for a loss. At 28-years-old, Danna can still be an effective rotational pass rusher and add some winning experience to the Bills’ defense.

Danna Would Add More Depth to Bills’ Pass Rush

If Buffalo does end up signing Danna, it would add some more depth to the defensive line.

Danna has proven he can still be an effective pass rusher. He can also play a role in the run game if needed. In Buffalo’s playoff failure, the defense has failed to get after the quarterback, so the Bills have been trying to overhaul the defensive line, and Danna would be the latest in that.

The Bills’ pass rush is led by Greg Rousseau, Bradley Chubb, Ed Oliver, Michael Hoecht – when healthy – Parker, and T.J. Sanders. Yet, NFL teams can never have enough pass rushers, which is why the Bills are hosting Danna on a visit and are interested in signing him.

Buffalo’s big splash to the pass rush was signing Chubb, which Bills’ general manager Brandon Beane is excited about.

“He caused us some fits in that game,” Beane said about Chuvv. “We lost down there. (He) got Josh down once or twice. So I know 17 is glad that he’ll only see Chubb in practice and not on game days anymore.”

The addition of Parker in the NFL Draft will also help Buffalo’s pass rush.

Bills Changing Defense

Buffalo made a change to its coaching staff by firing head coach Sean McDermott.

After Joe Brady was hired as the head coach, he hired Jim Leonhard as his defensive coordinator. The Bills will now be changing to a 3-4 defense under Leonhard, and he wants his defense to be more aggressive.

“We’re going to be an attacking defense up front and in the back end. We’re going to attack the football. The biggest stat in football is turnovers, so we’re going to be aggressive, we’re going to fly around, we’re going to communicate, we’re going to play well together, but we’re going to cause issues for the offense, and we’re going to force them to react to us,” Leonhard said.

This offseason, Buffalo has revamped its defense, and the Bills may not be done.
