Toronto, ON, March, 2023 – The Vector Institute, an independent, not-for-profit corporation driving research excellence and leadership in artificial intelligence (AI) announced today, a new five-year strategic partnership with KT Corporation (KT), a South Korean company that provides integrated telecommunications and platform services in Korea and internationally.

The new partnership provides an opportunity for collaboration between KT and Vector’s diverse community of AI experts as KT looks to grow its AI research and development on voice capabilities and participate in professional development and AI education. It also allows the company to grow ties within the Ontario and global AI ecosystem as it works towards building a new AI lab in Ontario.

“KT is delighted to be a sponsor company of Vector Institute,  one of the world’s top AI research institutes. Through this partnership, KT expects to accelerate its expansion into the global market based on digital platforms. KT plans to apply the latest AI technology to KT AI services through collaborative R&D with the Vector Institute and strengthen employees’ AI capabilities by Vector Institute’s education programs.”

-Soonmin Bae, Head of AI2XL research institute, KT

“I’m proud to welcome KT into our family of sponsor companies. The relationship, and the agreement to develop an AI lab right here in Ontario, is further proof that Canada’s AI ecosystem truly is world class. We look forward to using our experience in both industry and academia to help them grow their employees’ AI knowledge base while offering our workforce-ready talent an international experience right here in Canada, without leaving home.”

– Cameron Schuler, Chief Commercialization Officer and VP Industry innovation,  Vector Institute
