Note that I didn't change it to use Git for the sake of change but to ensure shared libraries are built as well (which seems to depend on a check using Git commands). I didn't experience any problems with bitbucket but if it is too slow we could use the mirror on GitHub (https://github.com/videolan/x265). Cloning from GitHub is usually quite fast and reliable - even for very big repositories.

I did added your changes, but I will keep downloading the package instead of cloning, it happened me many times that if the connection is very slow, the connection shuts down when cloning.
