System76’s high-performance computers have always met the challenges of AI, but with the Sept. 9 launch of the Thelio Mira AI, our customers can now purchase a lower-cost Thelio workstation that’s optimized for AI development and local AI workloads.

The Thelio Mira AI – which adds new capabilities to our best-selling Mira desktop – offers a cost-effective GPU workstation solution for AI projects, prioritizing GPU compute. It’s powered by dual NVIDIA GPUs and a lower-wattage AMD CPU to free up more power for those GPUs.

For pure GPU-bound AI work like multi-GPU training, inference, fine-tuning, and image generation, Thelio Mira AI delivers maximum GPU performance per dollar. Its capabilities for local AI workloads and cost savings over cloud-based solutions make it especially well-suited to fields such as computer vision, simulation, quantitative finance, defense, and scientific research.

The new Thelio Mira AI model combines an AMD Ryzen 9000 Series CPU (a high-performance, lower-cost alternative to the AMD Threadripper) with two NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell GPUs that provide 96 GB of ECC (error-correcting code) memory per GPU (or 192 GB total) to accommodate the memory demands of machine learning. Consumer desktop GPUs max out at 32 GB, while dual RTX Pro GPUs provide six times the memory and protection against bit flips that can result in the incorrect result or corruption that goes unnoticed.

It expands the flexibility of the established Mira desktop platform by supporting Dual PCIe 5.0 x16 slots configured for x8/x8 multi-GPU support, which enable enhanced memory transfer and more effective AI model training.

“Thelio Mira AI is built for developers who want to put more of their investment into GPU compute,” said Carl Richell, founder and CEO of System76. “With dual full-performance NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 GPUs, it delivers the memory and performance needed for serious local AI training, fine-tuning, inference, and generative workloads.”

The Thelio Mira AI ships with your choice of Ubuntu or System76’s Pop!_OS with the COSMIC desktop environment. Pop!_OS and COSMIC deliver a fast, intuitive Linux experience with powerful window management and productivity features built for demanding workflows. Pricing for the Thelio Mira AI starts at $3,299.
