TelevisaUnivison Lures Media-Buying Veteran Mike Law as E...

Spanish-language broadcaster TelevisaUnivison has hired Michael Law, a longtime media-buying executive who was most recently CEO of Dentsu’s Carat North America, as its new executive vice president of brand partnerships.

He will report to John Kozack, who was recently named to lead ad sales for the company.

“One of our biggest opportunities is increasing advertiser participation across TelevisaUnivision and expanding our share of wallet, particularly among brands where we currently have zero share or significant headroom to grow,” said Kozack, in a memo Thursday. “As the U.S. Hispanic consumer continues to drive growth for brands, helping more marketers unlock that opportunity remains a critical priority for the Brand Partnerships team. Mike will build on these efforts by broadening our advertiser base and ensuring more brands are leveraging the full power of our content, audiences, and platforms.”

Law has more than 25 years working for prominent media buying agencies. Before taking the CEO job at Carat North America, he led investment for Dentsu in the U.S. and spent time on Pfizer’s media team. He first joined Dentsu in 2000, overseeing national TV buying across important accounts. Law got his start working for Arnold, a prominent agency based in Boston.

The hires of Kozack and Law suggest new interest by top executives at TelevisaUnivision in relying on veterans familiar with the sales space. Kozack replaced Tim Natividad, who had previous experience at Roku and Amazon.

The company’s advertising revenue in the fourth quarter came to $856 million, flat with results from the previous year. In the U.S., advertising revenue declined 11% to $423 million.
