Sheryl Crow Slams Trump Administration for Staging UFC Fi...

Sheryl Crow has slammed President Donald Trump and his administration for staging the UFC Freedom 250 event last night at the White House, describing it as “disgraceful and void of decency.”

The singer-songwriter, who has been very outspoken against Trump in the past, shared a post on Instagram Stories that decried the event for being tone-deaf in the face of those who may be struggling across America.

“What happened last night on the lawn of the White House was disgraceful and void of decency,” she wrote. “Powerful, rich people filled the lawn to watch a violent sport that ended with a vile and racist comment. All while the average American cannot afford healthcare, gas, and cost of living.”

Regarding the “racist comment,” Crow was referring to a statement made by UFC winner Josh Hokit, who ended a post-match interview by saying, “And lastly, Michelle Obama is a man. Am I right, America?”

She continued by putting the administration in the crosshairs and encouraging Americans to see past the theatrics of a UFC event. “Do not be fooled. This administration is corrupt and does not give a damn about the American people,” she wrote. “It only cares about making money hand over fist at the expense and in spite of our democracy. If we continue to support this kind of distraction from reality, we are no better than them. Let’s be better, America.”

The White House did not immediately respond to Variety‘s request for comment.

This is far from the first time that Crow has spoken out against the administration. Last July, Crow released the song “The New Normal” about the current political climate that referred to Trump as the “leader of the free world” and compared reality to George Orwell’s dystopian “1984” novel. Earlier this year, she called for Trump to be “impeached and imprisoned” for his alleged ties to Jeffrey Epstein.
