Pierre Deny, a French actor best known for his role in Netflix’s “Emily in Paris,” died on Monday from ALS-related complications. He was 69.

Deny played Louis de Léon — the CEO of luxury fashion company JVMA and father of Nicolas (Paul Forman), the love interest of Mindy (Ashley Park) — in Season 3 and 4 of the hit series.

Deny’s daughters confirmed his death in a statement to French news agency AFP (via Le Parisien) on Wednesday. “It is with deep emotion that we announce the passing of Pierre Deny, which occurred this Monday following a sudden and severe case of ALS,” they said.

In addition to his “Emily in Paris” role, Deny appeared in more than 100 films and series in France including “Une femme d’honneur” (“A Woman of Honor”), “Julie Lescaut,” “L’Instit” (“The Teacher”), “Joséphine, ange gardien” (“Josephine, Guardian Angel”), “La Nouvelle Maud” (The New Maud”), “Camping Paradis” and “Braquo.” Besides “Emily in Paris,” he was perhaps best known for his work in the long-running French soap operas “Plus belle la vie” (“Life Is Beautiful”) and “Demain nous appartient” (“Tomorrow Belongs to Us”), in which he appeared in more than 500 episodes.

“Emily in Paris” started filming its sixth season in Greece last week, which will also be its last. “Making ‘Emily in Paris’ with this extraordinary cast and crew has been the trip of a lifetime,” series creator Darren Star said in a statement. “As we embark on the final season, I am so grateful to Netflix, Paramount, and, most importantly, the fans who have taken this incredible journey with us.
