Hannah Einbinder Speaks Out Against Spencer Pratt’s Mayor...

Following Thursday’s emotional series finale to “Hacks,” Hannah Einbinder is speaking out against Spencer Pratt‘s run to be L.A.’s new mayor.

“There’s a lot of wealth in this city and I think that there are a lot of people who masquerade as Democrats or people on the left, but really, money is their key issue and that’s what leads them to vote for people like Spencer Pratt — who is endorsed by Donald Trump,” Einbinder told Variety‘s Marc Malkin earlier today at the Critics Choice Association’s Celebration of LGBTQ+ Cinema & Television in Los Angeles. “It’s important to resist that.”

Pratt, star of MTV’s unscripted hit “The Hills,” has quickly gained attention in this year’s mayoral race to unseat incumbent Karen Bass. Pratt lost his home in the devastating L.A. wildfires and has gained the support of celebrities and right-leaning politicians.

Einbinder says she was “pragmatic” in her thought process, leading her to endorse Nithya Raman over Rae Huang: “It’s very complicated. No one is perfect, there are no perfect candidates. I’m underwhelmed in a lot of ways but I have made the choice to put Nithya down, and that’s what we’re doing girls!”

After Malkin said, “I want to see you run for office,” Einbinder quipped back, “You don’t and neither do I. No! Spencer shouldn’t and neither should I, OK? I’m with Lisa Rinna, I stand with Lisa Rinna.”

Earlier this week, Rinna spoke with Variety about the L.A. mayoral race. Although she claimed she doesn’t know who she is voting for, she clarified, “Not a reality star, though. I love him [Pratt], but we’ve already done that. We’re not going to do that again.”

Pratt responded to Einbinder’s remarks on X shortly after Variety posted her interview on social media and variety.com. “She says from a literal red carpet, surrounded by armed security, completely insulated from the horrors on our streets that Angelenos and their kids have to suffer through every day,” Pratt wrote. “I’m glad she doesn’t have to suffer the consequences of Karen and Nithya’s failures, but she’s in an elite minority and the rest of us want change.”

Einbinder has been one of the most vocal figures in Hollywood on multiple issues, including for her support of Palestine and her distaste for AI. On the red carpet, she also talked about the importance of the L.A. city council race.

“Yes, mayor is important, the mayor proposes the budget, but the city council has to vote to pass it. It’s really important to be focused on those races as well.”
