Abstract:In this article, we propose a two-sample test based on the Wasserstein 2-distance between two 1D samples, where the first sample is assumed to be Gaussian based on an approximation of the underlying distribution by a log-normal distribution. A two-sample test is performed to decide whether two samples are drawn from the same distribution or not. We evaluate the proposed method on synthetic data and extend it to the multivariate case. We also show that this test is closely related to the Shapiro-Wilk normality test.
