I dream of starting a company that makes products that last a really long time, designed to be repaired, with easy access to replacement parts, and freely available 3D printing plans for making the uncomplicated parts.

This is an objectively terrible business plan. To counter that, I will need a team of smart people to invent new products, in new fields, that can be made by reusing as much of our growing catalogue of parts from other items. As long as we keep making new stuff, we will be around to allow our customers to upgrade and fix their current stuff.

We would not even need to be the best. Pretty good will (eventually) be enough. More so, if end users find cool ways to customise our products for niche uses and clever hacks for better features.

I can see how it would run. If anyone can tell me how it starts… Please get in touch.

Inland, they have a red warning for heat up to 40°C. We only have an amber warning. It’s 24°C where I am.

They sit you at a table and then bring you a single slice of hot toast. When you are done, they bring you another. Have as much toast as you want for a fixed price. One hot slice at a time.

Tea, coffee, etc., can be extra. As can things to spread on your toast.

A while ago, I made myself a website I called Matt’s Web Way. It is just a little script that converts markdown documents into very light HTML with the minimum extra markup and the tiniest bit of CSS. Today, I made it ever so slightly faster. I moved the tiny bit of CSS into a CSS file from the page template – all 43 lines of it.
