Geekbench benchmark results may include a "valid" or "invalid" tag. The tag appears immediately after the overall scores. The tag shows the timer validation status for the benchmark result.

Geekbench uses high-resolution system timers to measure performance. These timers must be accurate for Geekbench benchmark results to be accurate. On some platforms, Geekbench validates these timers to ensure they are working correctly. Geekbench displays the timer validation result as a "valid" or "invalid" tag that appears immediately after the overall scores in both the Geekbench application and on the Geekbench Browser.

Valid Tag

valid-valid.png

A "valid" tag indicates that Geekbench has verified that the system timers are functioning correctly and that the benchmark results can be trusted to reflect the system's actual performance accurately.

Invalid Tag

valid-invalid.png

An "invalid" tag indicates that Geekbench has detected an issue with the system timers, which may result in inaccurate benchmark results.

No Tag

valid-unknown.png

A result without a "valid" or "invalid" tag indicates that Geekbench cannot validate the system timers. Currently, timer validation is only available on Windows systems, where Geekbench can perform the low-level validation required to confirm that the system timers are accurate. The absence of a validation tag does not imply that the benchmark result is incorrect. In the vast majority of cases, modern operating systems and hardware provide reliable and accurate timers, so benchmark scores remain dependable and meaningful even without the "valid" tag.
