New year, same faces for the title of PWHL’s top goaltender.

The three finalists for the 2026 award for best goaltender are the same as 2025: Boston’s Aerin Frankel, Montreal’s Ann-Renée Desbiens, and Ottawa’s Gwyneth Philips.

Frankel is the only player to be named a position award finalist in all three seasons of the league. The Fleet netminder set a PWHL record with eight shutouts this season, smashing the previous mark by four.

The Northeastern product was the first to record three straight shutouts, included in a streak of 226:09 without allowing a goal. She allowed a goal or fewer in 18 of 26 starts and tied for the league lead with 19 wins — good for another PWHL record. The 26-year-old posted a 1.17 goals against average and .953 save percentage.

Desbiens won the award last season and could become the first two-time recipient. She made 23 saves in the clinching game of the Walter Cup Finals, guiding Montreal to its first championship over Philips and the Charge.

The winner of the PWHL Awards will be announced on June 16 in Detroit. The Fleet’s Haley Winn and Megan Keller are finalists for defender of the year.
