Senior Research Grants Administrator
Anonymous · 2026-05-18 · via University of Cambridge

Would you like to be part of an Institute that works hard every day to get one step closer to winning the battle against cancer? If so, this role may be for you.

The Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute (CI) is a joint venture between Cancer Research UK and the University of Cambridge and is situated on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. The Institute's mission is to tackle the most difficult problems in cancer research and improve patient outcomes. As a Senior Research Grants Administrator at the Institute, you will play a critical role in ensuring that the Institute is able to fund an environment conducive to high-quality world class science.

The position would suit an enthusiastic person who has already gained experience in research grants management and understands the deadline driven nature of the work. As part of a team of seven Grants Administrators, you will be responsible for the proactive management of a portfolio of grants throughout the whole lifecycle from pre to post award; working closely with grant holders and their teams.

In return we can offer you

~ The chance to make a real difference in the fight against cancer.

~ A competitive salary with automatic annual increments within your salary band.

~ Hybrid working, part-time working considered.

~ A supportive and encouraging line manager to coach you.

~ A cooperative and committed team-based approach to work.

~ The opportunity to be challenged by, but proud of the work you carry out.

~ Opportunities for career development and training.

~ Work at an Institute that respects equality, diversity, and inclusion.

~ On-site facilities including subsidised canteen and access to the Biomedical Campus's sports centre.

You will be able to work independently but also be an excellent team player and be able to remain calm when working under pressure. You should be able to demonstrate excellent written English and the ability to interpret and fulfil precise requirements with meticulous attention to detail.

The role provides an excellent opportunity for you to develop your career in research grant management, whilst working in a stimulating environment supporting cancer research.

The current Hybrid working pattern includes two full days at the office.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records check) check and a security check.
