Katherine Ryan says her Eastern European housekeeper stol...
2026-04-23 · via News | Mail Online

Katherine Ryan has claimed that her Eastern European housekeeper 'may have stolen' several designer coats from her house after they mysteriously went missing.

The Canadian comedian first suspected her husband Bobby Koostra had thrown them away because he likes to declutter, but he firmly denied binning the jackets.

The 42-year-old then admitted she believes she 'might have been robbed by a housekeeper in retrospect' after finding her taking photos of her husband's clothes.

Ms Ryan said that the housekeeper explained this by saying she was taking pictures for her 'adult Jamaican son', who she asked to move into the comedian's home.

Coats which went missing included a Prada jacket and an Alexander Wang coat with a felt design of Romesh Ranganathan's face on it.

Talking on the Olivia's House with Olivia Attwood podcast, she said: '[My husband] gets rid of everything. He's a very tidy husband, and I do appreciate that.

'Because a lot of them are really messy, I've read. But he will just throw things away.

'So there was a case of the missing jackets, which I think we might have been robbed by a housekeeper in retrospect.

The 42-year-old then admitted she believes she 'might have been robbed by a housekeeper in retrospect' after finding her taking photos of her husband's clothes

'She was Eastern European. She was a lovely woman. We only had her for a short time, and she had this random son who was like her same age and Jamaican.

'But I'm a very progressive person. I'm all about diversity. I was like, maybe you're a young s**g.

'I was as well. I don't know, I could have a Jamaican son my age easily.

'So she would take photos of Bobby's clothes. We found her a couple of times taking photos of Bobby's clothes.

'And we're very live and let live. So we didn't ask questions. We were like, all right.

'And then one time she said to him, "Oh, my son likes this kind of thing. So I was taking a picture for my son".

'And we were like, "Oh yeah. Your adult Jamaican son".

'And then one time she was like, "Will my adult Jamaican son stay here?" And I was like, "No, no".'

Ms Ryan went on to say that she 'parted ways' before adding that she wasn't a 'huge staff person.

'It didn't work out,' she said. 'But we had these coats that I was putting away seasonally.'

'And I had beautiful coats in there. I had this like Prada puffer jacket. I had an Alexander Wang coat that I had customised with this like insane felt artist rendition of Romesh Ranganathan.

'This woman online used to make like felt representations of different comedians, but with t***, with like tassels on the ends of the nipples.

'And I bought the Romesh one because he hated it so much and I loved it so much. And I put it on a jacket and then that was gone as well.

'And I was like, Bobby, because he, my husband Bobby, throws everything away. Everything away. You move it into the garage and then you know it's in danger and then it will go.

'And then he takes it to the dump or to his marketplace, which is just the road. And so all these went missing and he was like, "I promise it wasn't me".'

Ms Ryan married businessman Bobby Koostra, her Canadian high school sweetheart, after they reconnected in 2018 while she was filming an episode of the BBC ancestry series Who Do You Think You Are? in her home town of Sarnia, Ontario.

The couple share son Fred, four, and daughters Fenna, three, and Holland, six months.

She is also mother to Violet, 16, who is from a previous relationship.

The comic, who has never disclosed the identity of Violet's father, tore into him recently as she admitted she no longer feels the need to bite her tongue since Violet is old enough to 'see for herself'.

'I've been careful never to s**g him off just because I don't think it's the right thing to do,' Katherine said on the Juicy Scoop With Heather McDonald podcast.

'And I really protected him while my daughter was young. I would never say anything bad about him.

'But now she's 16, she can see for herself that unfortunately, he's not a bad person, but he's never made any sacrifices, never paid anything for her, just kind of texts her, which I think is breadcrumbing.

'Like, "Hey, love you. How are you?" Which is better than no contact. But he hasn't been the type of dad that you would want for your daughter.'

When asked directly if he is involved in Violet's life, she replied, 'Not really.'
