Five students have been rushed to hospital after a packed school bus crashed in Sydney's west.
Emergency services were called to Erskine Park Road in Erskine Park shortly before 1pm on Thursday following reports a bus had left the road and hit a tree.
Responders worked to extricate the driver, a teacher and 41 students from Years 11 and 12 on board.
The driver was treated by paramedics and taken to Westmead Hospital for further treatment and mandatory testing.
Five students – aged between 16 and 18 were taken to various hospitals for further treatment. One has suffered with suspected fractures.
The remaining students and teacher were shaken but not physically injured. They have all been taken home or back to school.
The northbound lane of Erskine Park Road remains closed.
